Also, when that happens you can turn the laptop upside down immediately so the liquid settles underneath the keykaps instead of flowing in.

I spilt beer on a friends laptop at a party once. I didn't tell them it was me (he was a very angry German who had a tendency to get stoned, fall asleep and wake up with a burnt pizza and lose his gooseberry fool) but I saved it that way.

It's good there was no sugar. Sugar is also electrolytic and when it dries into a tacky substance it will create shorts. This is why coke or orange juice in a laptop is basically FUBAR.

My mate and I were playing slaps once at a party and I pulled off a textbook dodge. Unfortunately we were playing next to an iMac tower with a gin and tonic on top and it got drenched :dread:

Fortunately it was okay...

My mum visited the doctors due to an ear issue and she needs to have it syringed. "Lol can't do that on NHS any more as no funding!". Gotta pay out £60 to get it done privately :fp: :x .

I am genuinely lost as to whether the challenges in health funding are caused by the government, the local health authorities or other factors. The government claims that funding is being increased but the health / hospitals don't seem to agree with that. It's difficult to work out what the fault is.

Fake edit: I'm not basing this suggestion on just the one incident; my dad has experienced similar issues at the dentist and hospital recently, too. I'm not blaming the hardworking, excellent health / NHS staff, either.

It’s just political spin. The government have increased funding but not at the same level that costs increase.

For example, if there is an increased cost to a hospital of £1million and the government only give them £300k more than the year before, then the government have increased funding AND the hospital is up gooseberry fool creek without a paddle.

The hospitals do a great job, but there are only so many savings they can make before people start to suffer and services get reduced.

Yeah, I think you're right. My uncle needs a hip replacement and, after waiting ages through the NHS, elected to get it done privately. My brother-in law has just had an ankle op done privately (via health insurance) after previously working through the NHS processes for two years. My dad also needs an ankle operation - he can barely walk now - but private is not an option in this case and so we're in for a long wait via the NHS. It will make me think about my voting come election time... but it seems increasingly tough to get to the truth and cut through the BS.

The Tories have deliberately underfunded the NHS for a plethora of reasons. For example, they use the 'strain' on the system to push anti-immigration rhetoric, blaming the influx of foreigners into the country. In reality, they are creating the strain. Also, it helps them to justify offloading NHS services to private companies which they are continuing to do.

They can also justify it as reducing the national debt... which Labour will inevitably borrow on again to provide public services (has anyone ever wondered if it actually matters that a country is in debt to another, even if its for hundreds of years?) and the whole cycle continues. It's the election pledge that just keeps on giving provided you deliberately starve the country for the sake of national pride.

I found this article interesting but I have no idea of its balance as I'm not even remotely interested in national economics. Apparently following WWII national debt was 200% GDP as it led to the establishment of the welfare state and nationalisation of public services like railways, energy, RM etc. Over the following 40 years it reduced by some 150%, I'd be interested to know why if public spending had increased (most notably, of course, on the military, and what happened to that): https://www.economicshelp.org/blog/4912 ... bt-matter/

People that are endlessly sick because they don't look after themselves. All day every day grunting, coughing, sniffing, huffing because they're so fat and unhealthy. THEN they complain about it.

"Oh I'm so ill"

DO SOME EXCERSISE AND STOP EATING MICROWAVE MEALS AND DRINKING FIZZY DRINKS ALL DAY EVERY DAY THEN

arghhhh :fp:

Earlier today the bloke sat next to me was complaining about having a headache. He reckons it was because he had a salad last night.

I think about that a lot but then I realise my brain couldn't possibly create a dream so full of doom and gloom as reality actually is.

I had this last night. In the dream, I said something insensitive to a person from work. Woke up feeling terrible about it.

Bin collection this morning so obviously the only place available to return the bins once they have been emptied is directly at the end of my driveway blocking me in! :x

Being a bin person is clearly not a glamorous job and I am extremely grateful that people are up early in the morning to come round and do it - but would it really be so difficult to put the bins back somewhere other than in my strawberry floating way!?

Whilst I get where you are coming from I have to say that there are few things that beat that amazing feeling of relief when you have been experiencing an incredibly vivid and lifelike dream where something really awful has happened but then you wake up and realise it wasn't real! :toot:

Athletes - particularly when they make appearances on comedy shows and bring their non-existent personalities to the fore.

Watching the Celebrity Bakeoff and they've had 2 professional athletes on and both have been as dull as dish water. All they have to offer is "I train really hard, I won a medal" or a variation on those 2 points, it's so predictable. strawberry float off back to the gym you boring boring people.

I'm feeling just as crap but for a slightly different reason.

Me at 11pm: "Right brain, time for a good night's sleep"
Brain at 3am: "Wakey wakey!"
