Don't you technically interact with other drivers when you're on the road, or are you one of those drivers who assumes no-one else exists and therefore has the only right of way at all times and drives around blind bends and blitzes towards junctions without even entertaining the possibility that another car might be coming?

Part of my general disdain towards fellow humans stems from people who drive like you've described. They're normally in Ford Focus STs or your common garden BMW.

in the last year of driving a motorbike (which encourages you to pay a close eye on all cars so they dont murder you) i have noticed that mini cooper drivers are without a doubt the worst and most oblivious drivers on the road.

People who can’t organise themselves and take no responsibility for it.

Becoming especially apparent while trying to plan a wedding. The worst has been one of my fiancé’s bridesmaids who pulled out 10 days before our wedding this weekend because “she couldn’t get the time off work”. Now, she would have been flying over from USA so I appreciate it is a lot more difficult for her but she accepted the invitation to be Bridesmaid, said she would be there and then opted not to tell us she hadn’t had leave confirmed by work because “she didn’t want to worry us and thought it would work out” :fp:

Now it hasn’t worked out, she’s taken no responsibility for it and saying it’s not her fault because work denied her request, not at all appreciating the fact that if she’d kept us in the loop we could have planned around it.

We would have been completely understanding if she’d warned us about this a few months ago, I don’t really understand why she didn’t tell us.

I'm terrible at organising but I try to at least take responsibility for it and make it up to people, but I agree that communication is key. Unfortunately also being straddled with generalised anxiety I tend to turtle at the worst of times for myself and others. I try to use things like Filofaxes, to do lists, reminders, fake deadlines and calendars etc. Yet still seem to almost always fail to do stuff on time or not at the last minute. The route cause is probably being constantly pounded with ideas and sensory distractions/overload making it very hard to focus on any one thing at a time. Sometimes I can literally take me an entire day to complete a single task that I predicted would take 20 minutes. It's kind if horrible and makes it almost impossible to hold down a normal office job and accomplish normally basic things, like even just making a meal to feed myself on the worst days. My brain is in constant overload and there's no way to "switch off".

I don't get what difficulty some people have with accepting weakness, although it is a different issue to being capable of addressing it. Contrition is important I feel. On the other hand you can end up constantly apologising to everyone and letting people walk over you, and find yourself in abusive situations where you are clearly just not coping.

I generally dislike blame mentality, I grew up with it as my family was awful for taking responsibility for anything especially as 90% of gooseberry fool was my absent father's fault in the beginning, so it just led to bitter hated and resentment which was a horrible place to grow up in.

But people that are better at identifying personal weaknesses and "failing faster" as well as being aware of the greater scheme of things can alleviate the impact they have by having poor organisation skills.

It's a major career goal of mine to get a personal assistant (or hire a virtual assistant online because I know I am just terrible at that stuff), and believe me I have tried on my own. Short term memory is terrible too so I just forget what I'm meant to be doing all the time.

That's why I structure my work around shorter tasks with long deadlines that focus in quality and attention to detail rather than quantity. Seems the only thing that might work for me.

Not usually one for writing complaint emails, but the train pulled into the station this morning and none of the strawberry floating doors would open. Bear in mind the carriages had people on them. Upon making it to what was now the 4th carriage (of 10) the train began departing. Nobody got off the train, so I have no idea if there were people who actually wanted to get off (if there were they'd no doubt be even more pissed off than I was). But of course some of these smaller stations neither have a guard or a manned ticket office, so it's not like you can complain to anyone there and then.

I was going to suggest Gary Busey, but according to his wiki he endorsed Trump being elected. Then I thought of Gary Numan - his wiki states he was at one point an outspoken supporter of Thatcher's Conservatives. :dread:

Ho-hum.
