Care to provide the most recent example you've seen of this, solely for my amusement? ;)

Welcome back, btw.

And thanks!

He's great, but Taf used to do this a lot. "So you're saying that women shouldn't be allowed out of the kitchen? That's... well that's problematic"

I’ve encountered some dirty advertising tactics, but tapping on numerous places on the Eurogamer website (such as comments or article heading) forces a pop up/trailer on my iPad for a videogame called Disintegration. The trailer slides in from the side and then there’s no X anywhere to close it. Tap the screen and it expands to the full size. Only way to get rid of it is to refresh the page.

What a pile of gooseberry fool this website now is. Every time I go on there (around once or twice a month) I’m greeted with ever more of their ‘dodgy deals’. Coasting on the coattails of Digital Foundry at this point.

I honestly don’t mind adverts. I don’t mind supporting a site by keeping ads on. But the strategy these days appears to be: take the piss.

Earlier on this week, I was getting redirected to another website’s page for a game (may have been Disintegration, I can’t remember) if I clicked on a comments thread, then went back to the article to have another look at it, and then tried to go back to the comments again. The comments link would never load that second time and would always go to that other page, and then the comments were completely inaccessible. Disgraceful!

When your work laptop has been stuck on 0% of a Windows update for 15 minutes. It's so gooseberry fool and I just have to wait for it to reboot.

My work laptop tried to update Windows, Skype, Teams and avast the other day at the same time and essentially killed it. I lost the documents I had open, but apart from that there seems to be no lingering problems.

It's still at 0% but the light on the side is constantly lit as if it's working insanely hard. I really don't have time for this strawberry floating gooseberry fool.

We're now on 12% of update 2 of ?

My stomach is really aching. Feels like I've been kicked in it. You know that feeling where you're all ready to sit down, crack on and smash all the work? And then something like this happens and you just watch the clock ticking by while nothing gets done.

Eurogamer's been awful for a good while now, and things like this really don't help. Digital Foundry is the only interesting or unique thing about it, and if you're not into the technical side of games, then there's no reason at all to visit.

And some sites I've used, genuinely 2/3 of the screen is covered by adverts. I don't mind adverts either - I get the need for them - but more often than not they're loud, intrusive, auto-playing, content-obscuring pieces of shite. And sites then wonder why people use ad-blockers.

Been given one of those prepaid digital Mastercards and they’re a right royal pain in the arse. Wouldn’t recommend them to anyone, tbh. Every site I’ve used the provider has declined the payment, despite being well under the amount loaded on the card. What sites do these strawberry floating things work on, exactly? Any advice appreciated, as I’m a bit tired of trying different shops attempting to find something that is just the right amount only to be declined.
