Exactly, and as said revenue is now averaging at over £100 a month, that's a lot to potentially lose.

£100 a month is great. That's a lot of work gone into the channel. Soon it'll become your full time job and you'll be working with Stool Bloke on weekly Vlogs together about coin collecting and sightseeing in a VW camper.

They can get all your passwords stored in google mail.

Not sure what you're trying to say, but Gmail doesn't store any passwords. However, if you use gmail as your email for any other services, then they can reset passwords and intercept the emails.

Make sure you don't reuse passwords either. It might be that one set of your credentials was part of a leak and someone is using credential stuffing to try those credentials to access other services.

It's worth signing up to http://www.haveibeenpwned.com - they'll alert you when your email address is in a data leak. If you get an alert, you should change the account for that password and anywhere you use the same login credentials.

And always, ALWAYS use 2FA :capnscotty:

Google has a password manager that is directly linked to your account so if someone compromises your google account then in theory they would have access to your passwords for other places. But yeha 2FA should protect against this.

I think that's probably hooked in with Chrome isn't it? So yeah that's a big win for a hacker.

Google is probably something you need to be about as secure as your bank, because yeah if you use the email then they can reset the password for pretty much any other service through that.

There's a reason we perma banned the guy that hacked a moderator's email account for lolz, I mean they probably weren't looking to do that but they didn't realise quite how serious that is :fp:

It only takes one ad policy change by YouTube to take a fat chunk out of it, to be honest  I've seen many YouTubers get stung by that. It's a great bonus to have but from what I can tell, you need to treat it as exactly that.

I've just had a £93 payout for the last two months or so, up on £70ish that I got for a 2 month period a bit ago. I'm hoping that soon I'll be at the point where I'm hitting above the £60 threshold for payouts every month - that'd be nice. Crazy how much work you've gotta do to get that money up though - I don't have anywhere near the number of views you've got on some of your videos (good work)!

There's been a few such policy changes over the last few years when it comes to ads and ad revenue, one of the most notable was the COPPA (made for kids/not made for kids) rule which everyone's had to abide by.

The vast majority of my content though has not been affected thankfully as it's non-controversial stuff (even the slightest step out of line nowadays can get a video yellow $ demonetisation icon, did you know, even just using the words 'falkland islands' can make that happen, even though my video was of some falklands coins and i got it sorted after questioning it) and i try to play it as safe as possible, but some channels have been decimated by the changes just for having mild bad language or cartoon violence.

Yeah, the COPPA stuff came in just as I was starting up - fortunately it's very easy to tell that my content isn't designed for children, but I know of a few channels that were really worried while things were still unclear and I'm sure there's been many that have been badly affected by it. Didn't know that about the "Falkland Islands" thing! That's crazy! I know when COVID properly hit, that was a big no no for a while.

Yeah, i've always made sure not to mention Covid in any way as that was just asking for trouble.

Other things which can get yellow icon'd are the words 'North Korea' (my NK banknote vids were affected), and content that is even remotely related to the D Day Landings, as a few years back i visited the town of Arromanches Les Bains in Normandy, and my video of that got yellow icon'd even though it was just a few shots of the town and beach.

I was expecting Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered for Switch that I ordered during a sale to arrive today :toot: .

Heard the postman at the door, rushed out and... no game. A strawberry-floatin' bill :x .

I found out that youtube had somehow unsubscribe me from Vermy. No idea why, so I've just subscribed again. It's done it to a few of the channels I was subscribed to so now I'm having to find them again.

It sounds as though most historical war related pieces aren't monetisable? What's the logic behind that?

Not just actual war related content, but even the mention of locations which could be linked to any kind of conflict (see my post about Falkland Islands) seems to be affected, you asked about the logic behind it, but from what i've seen, there doesn't appear to be any at all.
