I just seen a person put up a tweet saying their mum had passed away due to covid, and her mum had wanted the respirator to go to someone else, and some strawberry floating arsehole has just posted 'ventilators are gathering dust cause hospitals empty'.

How much of a strawberry floating banana split can you be?

Companies that send out text messages asking for payment, account access or some other equivalent. Hate them with a passion, because trying to figure out if they’re real or fake is extremely difficult. Councils have a habit of using this stupid method now too. If I can’t tell, how is someone less familiar with tech supposed to know. All the signs that exist in an email and a web browser on PC don’t on a phone, or are certainly less obvious.

Received a message from SSE using a short link (.uk rather than .co.uk) and a direct payment website (something that doesn’t appear to be an option going direct to SSE, you need to have an online account to log-in to first). Ring them up. Over half hour on the phone it took for them to confirm it was in fact a real text message and a real website that doesn’t work without the full ‘short’ address (SSE.uk) featured in the text.

Could have just sent me an email.

Websites that override your back button with that stupid "Before you go..." page full of garbage articles.

Twice this week MS word has decided to just end itself and delete files I've spent quite a bit of time working on. I have no idea where they're going, or what's going on and why this is happening. If it goes down again the laptop's getting horsed out the window.

Reminds me of all the gooseberry fool mum and dad had going on their pc, like some strawberry floating cartoon dog would just appear on screen and start running aroind for no strawberry floating reason

I think the dog was one of the optional characters you could have instead of the paperclip at one point. :dread:

There was a whole era in the 90s when certain people were obsessed with making computing more "relatable" through avatars, assistant characters and overdosing on thigs like skeuomorphism.

One of the peaks of this was Microsoft Bob which tried to fit the whole idea of using a personal computer around a home based metaphor and interface:

This, trick I find really useful is press CTRL + S, its this great combo windows life hack that helps you save work.

My mum once blamed me she had lost work on her computer because of a power cut

Of course she hadn't saved her work :simper:
