We've got a standardised email signature format that we're supposed to use that encourages everyone to put their full title including professional qualifications (BSc SSc etc.) on there but I never like to use that as then I just get loads of people questioning whether I'm a "real doctor"!

Oh man, don't get me started on people who put their degree in their email sig :dread:

If you're in the academia space fair enough, but I mainly work with accountants :fp:

I don't see why your swimming certifications should be of anyone else's concern :?

That's the clue though isn't it? Me having a swimming certificate and not being able to swim!

It's a blatant clue!

Wait, don't tell me you've been playing as the loser version of Jenuall this whole time

They have to pay the big accounting corporation in the sky to display those titles so I guess they're getting their money's worth. Me? I stopped paying those rip-off fees as soon as I passed my final exam

Yeah I think it has a place in the right environment - academia or other situations where being chartered or having a very specific qualification actually matters, but for most people it's just a sign of being an arse!

Talking of stock issues, Tesco sent me a letter for a free Easter egg or bunny (as in creme egg size). "Crack in and enjoy" it says. Go online to order one. All 15 items in the promotion out of stock.

The nice weather salvaging a morning of disappointments.

I tend to find that "Many Thanks" is used mostly by people for whom English isn't their first language when I'm at work.

Normally "Kind Regards", unless I want them to know I'm pissed off with them. In that case it's simply "Regards".

One of the things that always gives me a chuckle:

All of our email signatures are based on a template design that someone in HR or something made years ago. They contain a "mailto" link in there for people to stick their email address* so people can click it to send an email to them. Virtually every email I have ever received internally has the text of the signature update but not the mailto link so they are all just directing emails back at this person in HR who designed the template!

*why you need this in the signature of an email where you can just click "reply" to send something back is beyond me but that's beside the point!

I... actually use ‘Many thanks’ if I’m asking somebody something, or to do something. Otherwise ‘Kind regards’. ‘Best wishes’ if their pet’s died or something.

And luckily for you that only adds 1KB to the email size.
