lol drummy, it sounds petty for anyone else but he threw away all my "empty cardboard boxes" years ago that were using up zero space, flatpacked.

That's half my games collection devalued massively, and he knew it mattered to me as well.

its just depressing someone can never get better and repeat the same cunty behaviour over and over and over again like that.

It's gutting when you realise the only logical conclusion to a personal loss like that is someone thinking nothing of it and not even respecting you enough to mention it. It's like walking away with a laptop or TV or whatever else, "oh they won't mind", but I really feel different about musical instruments. They have so much history, I played so many jams and wrote songs on it.

Here's the equivalent on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/M-Audio-Hammer ... B0046FEC04

£335 quid. My rent is £437.50 a month, council tax £72 a month, etc. and I can barely afford a fraction of that right now. I'm seriously poor. No chance.

That's why you hold onto these things and keep your options open, cherish what you have and make good well researched investments in the days you can, like when you're living at home and have no outgoings. Something I changed in 2008 and until recently he was still there.

I guess it's my fault for not having room to set it up and play it because my place is too small. And I'm totally serious, that will be the "justification".

Rant. I guess I'll go meditate and learn to "just let go" and "forgive and forget". Truth is I wouldn't have such problems if my own family didn't steal from me, but hey ho.

Judge Judy can help with this. She will tell your brother "shhhh" and then rule in your favour.

Yes?

Update: he lent it to his friend. Last time this happened it ended up in a different town being let out in a studio for hundreds of pounds per day. That's a business dealing in stolen assets, then.

At least it's safe and my brother is not necessarily an actual criminal, just a jackass when it comes to basic courtesy.

I mean what else do you do when your gooseberry fool disappears and no-one even told you? You assume the worst. It's the worry that sucks. What's the point in causing that.

He just doesn't understand how it cheeses off at the very least, and worries people sick, when you shift their stuff around without their permission.

That annoys me. Oh well not the worst case scenario. :)

Maybe I'm obsessed with personal property and am a meany no-share hog (not true - I lend stuff to people, those I trust. Not my brother then  and believe me I have "tested" this in good faith many many times). But I guess that's a natural component of making the very best of what you have - and for me, that's like 90% personal investment in art/music equipment - just a few K worth over 10 years, and some video games.

What the hell, there's a chance he leased it to a studio? So he's potentially got a source of income from one of your possessions? If that is the case, I'd tell him to cough up some of that.

What a dick.

Reminds me of my sister stealing gooseberry fool belonging to my nan (that she'd asked us to keep for her) when clearing out my dad's house. Called the police on her and haven't spoken to her since. banana split.

I saw my nan and her friends at the weekend, and as my sister has recently had a baby (hardst job in da wurld) they were all singing her praises about how great she is.

SHE strawberry floating STOLE FROM YOU :fp:

It's family, we're all in it together etc. Nope, you see a lot of emotional abuse and disrespect within families because there is the idea no-one can get hurt. Which isn't true at all.

I don't think he leased it or anything, just gave it to a friend. But the vintage valve amp is/was literally listed on this strawberry floating website as part of their "equipment"!

https://oldfoundrystudios.com/equipment.html (Sound City Valve Bass Amp)

From facebook page - the massive one in the middle.

On eBay now for £700 with 35 watchers

Just imagine finding out someone has "decided" a thing like that belongs to them. I think most people would be livid. But I'm too nice.

Your amp is still at that studio earning someone else money?

I got it back after 7 years of asking different people and the guy running the studio just didn't know it was nicked from me, apparently. They also have a Pearl Export drum kit that belonged to my mother.

All this while I was trying to save up for a valve amplifier at uni and could never afford it. It was all a bit rich tbh. I kind of inherited the amp from other people, with their full and honest blessing. There's jealously, sure, but just giving away some vintage gear like that?

Weird. Just bizarre. Completely once in a lifetime sort of thing to fall into your hands, who gives that away yet alone does it without the owners consent?

That's some next level Zeitgeist gooseberry fool, imo, and I never did anything to deserve it. I've been playing guitar for 21 years - it's not like I hadn't need for it.

It even has mostly original valves in it that go for £60 to £80 each on eBay (there's six!), so it's an impossible restoration project from a shitty old one as well.

At 46 years old(!) literally like a vintage car in good, working condition.

Anyway that's old news, just really grates me when you think you won't be put through some crap and it happens again. Sometimes you're just powerless to deal with bad people.

It sounds beautiful and I'll cherish it for a lifetime. Property eh, it causes so much grief. :toot:

That's some real shitty behaviour by the sounds of things and your brother clearly deserves some shade to be thrown at him (as I believe the kids are saying these days).

However, I feel there's a little bit of "fool me once... " going on here, seriously - stop leaving gooseberry fool in an environment where you can't trust people not to steal it! I know you shouldn't have to take precautions in a family home as it should be a safe space but the reality is it isn't one!

Indeed, I believe I have learnt from this and I can't leave anything there ever.

(As I often do with powertools while I'm fixing up the place because my brother does/did jack gooseberry fool. And I don't have a car so it's a total ballach carrying everything.)

It sucks when it's necessary to be overly cautious/paranoid.

Apparently he won't be coming back anyways as the poor sod really needs to move on so it's kind of time to force it (a mother's love is never extinguished fo'shure), you don't deserve to live at home if you treat the place and your elders/siblings poorly imo. Especially at 26.. (and I'm aware our generation has it really bad in this respect, but there are ways and means. Shape up or ship out!)

Just finished renewing my tax credits. Such povvo but at least I don't leach individuals/family/friends. :fp:
