I still use unix time stamps to prefix every single project folder I create.. Even though I could just sort by date created, that would be too easy.

The trend for websites to have the username and password boxes on separate screens, just put them on the same strawberry floating page, it boils my piss that I have to select autofill twice on my passowrd manager because some strawberry float has decided you go "username > next >password > Login instead of just doing it all in one go.

It annoys me when they stick the 'login' button in the top right corner of the page, it takes me a lot of effort to move the mouse cursor all the way there and back.

It seems that physical disability isn't ever taken into consideration by most web designers, even sites aimed at the disabled community are often just as bad with badly placed menus, tiny text and poor functionality when using an onscreen keyboard.

That does sound annoying, particularly if sites specifically aimed at the disabled community are failing in this regard as well! :fp:

Everything we do at work that has any kind of web front end has to comply with WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) - people were a bit reluctant at first as they feared it would be hard to do but in most cases it genuinely doesn't create much more work to accommodate these things!

There is probably more we can do. But WCAG isn't just good for disabled people, it makes all sites easier to use.

Half the problem with the internet today is that it's too easy to use.

I swear things were better when the ITV watching masses couldn't figure it out.

The mistake a lot of designers make is that simpler or more minimal means easier. Eventually you end up communicating almost nothing at all. It's always important to consider the audience in terms of functionality. Just graphic design and web design are very different things. Web authoring tools being easier and easier to use has become a problem because too many websites are laid out like magazines and navigating them is impossible because here's an idea, you can't turn a strawberry floating page on a website, you can't flip back to an index. There aren't page numbers. Etc

(Actually I suppose those are fundamental elements of book design, the point is you have to include them and when designing a website good web designers do that in the first instance if anything to make navigating their own work a less foggy and blurry experience at 2 in the morning! Right down to their code it will make logical sense - painting a website with a brush is just bad execution)

my favourite websites for ease of use are - no joke - those simple word doc pages with hyperlinks. i know where everything is and if i want to navigate back and forth i can use new tabs. best modern example is Maddox's site: http://maddox.xmission.com/

Things that annoy me.com: The "go to new posts" button no longer working on the "Things that annoy you.com thread"! :x

Or is that some kind of meta joke for the thread about annoyance to annoy everyone?!

I assume this got overlooked as a new thread should've been made and this locked.

Blame Errkal.

FFS Errkal!

Given that we had threads with <100 being turned over it did seem odd that this one was left to wither - that's why I thought it might have been done on purpose!

We'd have to reinstate the footballs if we made a new thread as well...

White backgrounds.
Opened up the All4 app on my Xbox while the room is dark, instantly bombarded with retina searing pure bright white light.

It grinds my gears when somebody moves away from their desk at work, their phone rings and before the first ring has even stopped they below across at somebody “CAN YOU PLEASE ANSWER THAT FOR ME?”.

I am sure they will answer it, give them a strawberry floating chance before shouting at them to answer it.

If anybody shouted across to me in that tone, I would shove the strawberry floating phone up their arse.

People who say "below" when they mean "bellow" really grind my gears. :slol:

I'm with you on that one though - there are not many circumstances when it is necessary to shout across an office environment, and that certainly isn't one of them.

I remember one guy in a previous team who literally did not give a flying strawberry float what anyone else was doing in the office - you could be in the middle of an important discussion, on the phone to a client, or just trying to get your head down and do some work - and he would just talk loudly and incessantly about whatever strawberry floating nonsense he felt like. STFU! :x

Bellow is a terribly spelt word, it is much better to spell it below... :shifty:
