Before they ran it into the ground, the documentary sitcom Benidorm got it spot on. The whole idea of spending 90% of your holiday effectively in a hotel, possibly once venturing out to a water park, and eating atrocious American/British food is my idea of the worst possible holiday in the world.

At least when you go to, say, Vegas you are actually experiencing Vegas. It is an aspect of America, in all its gaudy and loud excess. A hotel swimming pool and a chicken burger with chips, baked beans...and a fried egg however is not Spain. All these amazing beaches, and small hotels, and food, and culture, and shops and everything else...you're not seeing any of it. There's no adventure or spontaneity there whatsoever.

Ive never seen the point of them either, you get off the plane, get on a bus and get taken to the hotel/villa/whatever, never once interacting with the actual country youre visiting. I get that people just want a nice relaxing time and the weather is a big draw but you can enjoy the weather and relax while also checking out some of the unique stuff that place has to offer. I will however make an exception for a weekend in Disneyland cos I like Disneyland but Paris is a bit gooseberry fool.

I do agree although when you’re 18 and just wanting to get smashed and laid they work well.

It was very funny in...2007. I can't believe it's been going 10 years.

The first couple of series we really funny and nicely poked fun at chav holidays, but if you see it now it's almost done seriously.

Don't ship to Americans, not only do they not understand it costs a lot of money for courier-style services that get the item half way across the world over an ocean, they expect £1 or so postage to be traceable.

They also complain when it gets shipped on time, and has to be processed by customs and pay tax (even though they always have to pay tax so why would this be any different).

But actually more annoying was some guy in France in the middle of nowhere who claimed an item that took 2hrs to make never showed up but wouldn't confirm his address even once (there was no street address). As there was a minor flaw in the original I had offered to send a second one anyway. Then he complained that he was going to get 2 of this item but has none. I asked to confirm address as I wasn't going to do anything but tracked & signed if I was going to send again at all. Never got a reply.

My listings also say MADE TO ORDER and DISPATCHED with X, Y or Z days and explain the difference between processing times and shipping times - every now and then there is someone that says IT TOOK 17 DAYS. Yes, that's how long it takes to process, manufacturer, ship and deliver an item that is made for you, and not grabbed off a shelf with literal lasers and sent out with 24hr delivery the same day, and this is explained in multiple places :fp:

I reduced a lead time to 5 working days on some items and it just made it worse because it was really hard to do everything on time, and that's just one outlet.

Thankfully 99% of the time I don't have any problems.

I just use eBay's Global Shipping Programme. You just send it to eBay here in the UK and then they take over, so if anything goes wrong it's their problem.

Yeah but I don't use eBay because customers only buy cheap gooseberry fool expecting it immediately and I don't like paying separate bills to two companies that are/were basically the same and being essentially forced to use their payment processor just because they have a vested interest in it.

I've heard DHL do something similar though.

By the way Ad7 the answer is to not answer them or given them a delivery window, the more you answer the more entitled they will feel to have constant updates on progress you can't even remark upon, just wasting your time. And NEVER give people your mobile number.

This is someone from a different office. It's only some bloody business cards :fp: Of course she called me up and said she needed some urgently in the first place. "How long will they take to get here"

ONCE I'VE SENT THEM OFF ITS OUT OF MY HANDS

Hi

Just a quick chase to see if there's any update on the business cards?

Thanks

Not only does our money now look like gooseberry fool toy money, but it also looks like gooseberry fool toy money owned by a kid who doesn't look after his toys. I have four fivers and they sit awful in the hand due to each one having multiple different folds, with each one further adding to the trashy look of them.
The argument making a case for these plastic notes was that it'd stop people from losing money being thrown in the wash. Well how much money has been lost due to double paying since the introduction of gooseberry fool toy money? (You know, because the notes stick together.)

The fact that the poorly maintained birthday thread killed any chance of us getting a birthday shout out ...
