We have 3, one for general rubbish, a recycling one for plastic/cardboard/glass/cans/tins/paper (With paper in a black box that goes into the bin) and a garden waste one.

All collections are fortnightly. One week is general rubbish then the next week is the recycling ones.

We have a green bin for general waste, a blue bin for recycling, a brown bin for garden waste and a food waste caddy. We asked for an extra blue bin because of all the packaging from online shopping.

The food waste is collected weekly but everything else is done fortnightly. It works OK but sometimes the green bin is so full you can't shut it.

The main annoying thing is that, if Christmas Day or Boxing Day fall on your collection day, you miss a week so the food waste accumulates for 2 weeks and whatever else was due for collection accumulates for a month. Which is great at a time of year when the whole family is home and there's extra waste from Christmas!

Crazy how different these services are. Presumably there are no national standards so you're at the mercy of the competence of your local council.

Skys customer service.

My Sky HD box is strawberry floated so I went looking up upgrade offers. If I upgrade to Sky Q and add multioom it'll cost me a €110 installation fee and €112 a month.

A quick check on the website also suggests that a new customer would get that package for a €60 installation fee and €80 a month.

Called up to go through the whole "oh I'm gonna cancel" malarkey and now they want to check if my phoneline is good enough for their broadband options as that'd give a better discount. The line isn't good enough and I've told them that and I just want to get the same sodding offer as new customers. Christ.

Have you signed up for Sky VIP? The offer on there is for free Sky Q setup.

I saw that alright. They still want €112 a month if I use that offer.

The point is that I'm paying for a large household. I'm not saying those with more people in a smaller property shouldn't also get more refuse allowance, just that I should get the service that I'm paying for.

I'm not arguing with you bro

We have 2 boxes and a bag for recycling as 90% of the houses are terraced. They go missing all the time. So I stuck giant florescent number stickers on them, since I can make those.

As for sky, I did exactly that, I wanted the same offer as new customers for fibre. The trick is to use an ultimatum. Say your competitor is offering x and I want to move to them. They'll give you the new offer. I need to do it now, I've been charged 40 quid for 30 Meg 3 months now.

I would do what Gecko says, threaten to leave and tell them a competitor is offering a better deal. Be prepared to hang up the phone without a deal as they will usually/almost always then email you with an offer soon after.

I cancelled sport 6 months or so ago and still get lots of offers from them. I don’t ever take them up on the offers though as the silly strawberry floaters still haven’t turned off the Premier League channel so I’m getting it for free.

I am only getting it in SD, if you could ask them to make it HD again then I’d be grateful.

That's very similar to the system in my area except that we also have a small grey box which is supposed to be for food waste but we don't use it as the idea of having a box full of unbagged rotting food is both disgusting and unhygenic. food gets put in the general rubbish (in bin bags) and the box gets used to store clothes pegs.

Having just declared in the politics thread that I think I'm a liberal guy, I now have bile rising in my throat at the sight of a guy sat in our call centre talking to a customer with his strawberry floating hoodie on his head. Almost as bad a wearing a hat indoors :x

jesus christ Ironhide, its in a box and it gets taken away within 2 weeks anyway :fp:
if it really bothers you put it in little bags, put some newspaper around it and keep it in the shed/outside

That does make you a liberal. It was David Cameron that wanted to hug the hoodies, liberals want to smash their faces in.
