The World Cup is going to break him.

The world cup can strawberry float off. It means I won't be able to go to the pub I like as it will be full of football rubbish it always is a little but it is going to unbearable.

I know many pubs have now caved in to having TV, Sky Sports and the like available, but I still broadly hold the opinion that no truly decent pub should need them.

All a decent pub needs is a fit barmaid and a Ringing the Bull game set up.

I agree, the place I go has them as it's how they got started but by they do loads of awesome beers and ciders so could bin them but they see it part of their "thing" that they have good beers ciders and sports.

Request to change thread background to pixelated spinning footballs for the duration of the World Cup.

We should definitely stick the official mascot in our logo and see how long we can go before FIFA's lawyers send their goons round to Karl and Gecko's houses.

I would have thought for lots of us Euro 96 is the first international tournament we remember. If only we could go back and tell our younger self that this is the best we'd see for at least the next two decades.

I was on holiday at Disney World in Florida when Euro '96 was on. Missed Gareth Southgate strawberry floating us over because I was too busy on Space Mountain!

World cup Italia 90 was the first I remember. I loved all the coke/fanta/sprite mini footballs and yoyos they used to give out at petrol stations as promo items

They will be able to get the bus directly to Geckos it will be very convenient for them.

The first tournament that I watched was World Cup - Spain '82. England didn't lose a match but still got knocked out .

It was the first one I properly remember. No recollection of WC 86, Euro 88, WC 90, Euro 92 or WC 94 (I was 9 during USA 94 but I guess England not being present meant it completely passed me by).

I feel sorry for people that didn't get to experience Euro 96, it was such an amazing tournament and a high watermark for England. I doubt we'll get that close again for quite a while.

As someone who is English but brought up in Scotland it was pretty memorable.
