I not sure how that is any worse/different from any other crap fast food that co-incidentally tastes delicious!

Wrong thread, but the ex always used to ask for chicken from the chippy.

Special order every time, would take about 15 minutes. Just eat fish, ffs.

"Chippy" :dread:

Not this place (geddit?), it's got a proper nice restaurant on the side of it and all the food is just strawberry floating fantastic, fresh every time.

People that think a chippy is a restaurant. Now THAT makes me smile!

Must be something to do with McBurger being classed as a 'restaurant' (in Ronald McDonald's eyes at least). Weird since you can order food theough your car window from there.

My grandparents used to call the chip shop with plastic seats the 'fish bar'. Always seemed a bit suggestive to me.

Well quite.

A uni mate of mine from Dublin refers to the chip shop as a 'Chipper'.

I always felt that was something used for disposing of bodies in Fargo.

Maybe I am missing something, but I don't think it's that big a jump of the imagination to generally accept that places that sell deep fried food to go are generally considered takeaways. With or without seats.

Google says:

chippy1/ˈtʃɪpi/
noun
1.a fish-and-chip shop.
2.a carpenter.

adjective
(of a person) touchy and defensive, especially on account of having a grievance or a sense of inferiority.

chippy2/ˈtʃɪpi/
noun
a prostitute or promiscuous young woman.

So do you mean you went to the chippy for food or whores?

I asked for a spring roll once and everyone looked at me like I'd just pooed on the floor.

Then it took like 5 minutes. Why have a menu if all you want people to eat is fish and chips

If you are cooking spring rolls in the frier then you generally cant put chips in there at the same time. If its busy then that means everyone else might have to wait for chips.

The way to combat is to have a shallow frier in the kitchen but if its an english chippy they probably dont have a second kitchen for that kind of gooseberry fool.

Hearing Europe's "Final Countdown". Always makes me think of Will Arnet's character in Arrested Development and one of his gooseberry fool magic tricks.

Takeaway food.

Going to the cinema.

Getting in just the right sort of zone with red wine and something good on the TV.

Visiting my parents.

A productive day at work.

Dropping meteor strikes in Pikmin 3 multiplayer.
