I could never find them scary they were just too funny.

Spike

I was terrified of them in the first film when they transformed from something as cute as gizmo into some sort of terrifying hobgoblin. The second one is one of my favourite films though...

I borrowed a book about folk stories from the library at primary school and it gave me nightmares.

I will still refuse to step foot inside a fairy circle, but that's just common sense right?

There was an advert in the early 1990s for Lynx (99% sure it was for that) and it featured a talking shower unit saying "Good morning Bob, what you doing Bob?" or something along those lines. It terrified me to the point that my parents wouldn't watch ITV when I was in the room.

I've searched for it several times over the years but no dice, if anybody can do some sleuthing and find it I'd be eager to see the nostalgia rush/PTSD it gives me.

I once dreamt that a 3 bulb spotlight was firing laser beams at me repeatedly, I'm pretty sure it physically hurt, so now I have a fear of specifically 3-part spotligt arrangements; the box for the original unit showed up recently (came down from the attic with some stuff in) at my mum's house and gave me phear. I'm 29 and this is my story, hope it helps someone.

Burglars/intruders. This might sound rather far fetched but as a kid I had a dream that my house was broken into when low and behold that very night it was. To this day I am super paranoid about making sure windows and doors are locked and have a recurring nightmare about waking up and disturbing a burglar.

One day I thought I'd walked in on a burglar when I came home from school.

I got home, unlocked the door and in the living room was a man with a huge beard that I didn't recognise. I froze up, terrified and was about to tell him to just take whatever he wanted and please not to hurt me.

Turned out it was my dad who had come home from working in Saudi Arabia early as a surprise and he just hadn't shaved yet since he grew a beard over there to protect his face from sunburn :fp:

Three things scared me stupid as a young kid

1) The War of the worlds music it was the Martians cry of UUUUlaaaaaaaaa my folks played this when I was very young and it scared me stupid.
2) MJ's Thriller both the music and the music video which my older brother would insist on listening to even though it scared me
3) The Devil .... Basically when I was around 6 our teacher would tell us if we didnt pray hard enough and keep our eyes closed etc we would rot in hell and the devil would come and get us she was a really old witch

I was between 4 and 8 in all of the above cases. The funny thing is latter in life I would come to love the first 2

I've just thought of another thing; when I was around 2 or 3 my parents used to frequently listen to Oxygene by Jean-Michel Jarre, it was like no other music I'd ever heard and it freaked me out.

Now, 30 odd years later I love it.

We used to have a big tree in the front garden and I can remember being terrified that it was going to fall over and crash through the house. I am not sure how old I was, but I think I had read a book where a tree fell into a house and I was scared for months that it was going to happen to us.

Death. I went through a period as a child where I really struggled to come to terms with death as a concept, it would keep me awake at night and I was continually pestering my parents for reassurance on it.

Happy childhood days!
