That's a good one. The buzz of a new N64 Magazine being on the shelves was unreal.

The internet killed it :x

Absolutely this.

I used to walk down to the corner shop near my Nan's with my pocket money in hand every Friday night to see if they had the newest Cube/ONM, even though I was fully aware they were both monthly magazines.

One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

If I want to stand in WH Smiths wearing my Hi-Tec trainers and Donnay jacket whilst reading all of the magazines for free then that's what I'm going to do! :D

For me it was Amiga Power. It was bordering on a biblical experience waiting for the next mag and coverdisk.

My serious answer to this - we probably can't avoid losing touch with what the youths(!) are up to, but we can choose not to become grumpy boomers who insist "no, it's the children who are wrong!".

All you've gotta do to not lose touch is spend all your waking time on the internet like I do, then you'll never lose track of what's going on. Also never forget that all the issues today are caused by boomers, not people younger than us. They're doing better than we were at that stage of their lives and Millenials overall have been strawberry floated the most, but it's all because of boomers.

Surely it's a mixture of both? Some things were actually better, some things weren't better but it feels like they were.

I'm not sure that's true, I think Gen Z have it even worse than Millenials

They really don't. There's studies into this that shows average wealth of Gen Z and Millenials. A lot of millenials came of age in the middle of the 2008 financial crisis and we're one of the only generations who have gone through two major financial crisis while we're still trying to get our life sorted. Job security for millenials is a lot worse than for Gen Z as well and overall it appears that Gen Z wages are higher than Millenial wages were at the same stage of our lives.
