Just Anthony Hopkins shopping for jpegs with his good friends Snoop Dogg, Jimmy Fallon and Reese Witherspoon.

Everyone named in that tweet is signed to the same talent agency, incidentally.

Ridiculous isn't it, it's worthless and people want out, we best stop them to try and stop the market tanking, does this not count as market manipulation?

Can't be accused of market manipulation if there's no regulation :capnscotty:

One can presume the proprietors of the platforms hold significant crypto assets and so when they say they are protecting a market crash they mean shoving their heads into the sand when their portfolio sees a huge downturn in value, or whomever their key stakeholders are (also lined with crypto "cash").

Block all withdrawals to stop the drop, hold the ban until things calm, unlock and watch stuff go back up, claim it's proof of the future, repeat.

I can only assume the deliberate choice of aesthetic for NFTs in general being ugly as strawberry float is to try to weed out anyone who's likely to think critically or not be swept up by hype, the same way that scam emails use deliberately butchered spelling and grammar so the scammers only have to deal with the kind of people who lack the critical thinking skills to question anything they're told.

Ah yes, let's push to save the environment using one of the most damaging tools to the environment imaginable. A great idea!

Do NFTs require the crazy electricity consumption requirements that crypto currency mining involves? I thought they shared a lot of similarities in being comparable to the emperor's new clothes but not the mind boggling levels of energy consumed?

It uses exactly the same crazy electricity consumption requirements, that's the issue.

They are both stored on a blockchain, the environmental impact/electricty consumption is down to how that blockchain is updated - it doesn't really matter if the transaction being added is for a cryptocurrency or for an NFT.

Yup, nfts are stored on the Ethereum blockchain so has the same power needs etc as any Ethereum transaction.

A single blockchain transaction uses approximately a third of the energy that an average home uses in a whole month.
