I mean to help it get noticed. I'm sure it will be awesome but it feels like it's being sent out to die.

I really enjoyed the first but always feel like I overpaid by jumping in on day one, game dropped in price like a stone and they made the season pass free! I'll enjoy my free ten hours and then finish it off when it joins the vault.

Looks a hell of a lot more exciting that the next Battlefield and COD. Loved the first one even though it was clearly lacking a lot of features, but it looks like they're going all in with this one.

Good move putting a single player campaign into this, I'm sure not having this would have lost them sales on the first.

Yes?

Yeah, think I'm going to give the war-shooters a miss this year and just pick up this. The first game was so much fun. I just hope it can survive that release date.

gooseberry fool, it's probably the game I'm most looking forward to for the rest of the year. Even if The Last Guardian is still 2016.

Will you be getting it on PS4 or PC?

Xbox One.

*record scratch*

Most likely PS4. I had the first one on both formats and much preferred it on console to PC.

Campaign Previews

Titanfall's multiplayer is already a proven commodity (and it'll be looking to do so again in the forthcoming open beta - more on that early next week), and first impressions suggest its single-player will be equally assured, a smart appropriation of all that was good about the original in a campaign that's generous and varied. There's one important question that remains, though. Given the emotional bond that exists between Cooper and BT in Titanfall 2's campaign, surely it's inevitable that some horrible fate awaits the loveable mech?

"Well," says McCoy as a small grin breaks out on his face, "you'll have to play and tell us what you think..."

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2016- ... s-campaign

Respawn has yet to detail the overarching story arc of its single player campaign, and while we have spent more time with the shooter's multiplayer aspects, that content is under embargo until next week. But if the recent demo is any indication, Titanfall 2's single player campaign is more than just an afterthought.

FIVE THINGS ABOUT TITANFALL 2 SINGLE PLAYER

When the team started development on Titanfall 2, we invested a lot of time in “finding the fun”. We experimented with different ideas for a single player campaign, from a gameplay-first mindset. At the same time, it made sense to step back and ask one very fundamental question:

“What is Titanfall?”

Titanfall is two games in one that are carefully balanced - agile Pilots and powerful Titans. This led to an interesting narrative question: what is the relationship between a Pilot and a Titan? Where can we go with that? It was from these questions that Titanfall 2’s single player campaign really began to take shape.

Fast forward nearly two years, and we’re putting the finishing touches on Titanfall 2. As we prepare for the launch on October 28, 2016, we’d like to share with you five things to expect about the single player campaign:

A Different Style of Pacing
Titanfall 2’s single player campaign is a carefully crafted, cinematic shooter experience, but with a different style of pacing than you might expect. While you’ll experience a wide range of intense battles as a Pilot and as a Titan during your journey with BT, those experiences will be contrasted against opportunities for exploration and some quieter moments of contemplation.

Experience Titanfall on Your Own Terms
Single player is designed to be a standalone narrative experience, so that you can enjoy Titanfall at your own pace and on your own terms. It’s not a training module for multiplayer. That said, there are many moments in the campaign where you’ll have to use basic Pilot skills such as wall running and double-jumping, as well as other Pilot and Titan abilities. As you get used to flowing and maneuvering in single player, using your abilities in concert, you’ll find yourself naturally better prepared to enter the realm of multiplayer, should you choose to do so.

A New World to Discover
One thing that surprised us after the release of the first Titanfall was just how much fans wanted to learn about the universe. This sentiment gave us an extra push to find ways of delivering lore across all parts of Titanfall 2. In single player, the citizen soldiers of the Militia continue their fight to retake the Frontier. Set against them are the occupying forces of the vast, Interstellar Manufacturing Corporation. Our story begins when the Militia deploys a small fleet to the planet Typhon, in support of a wider offensive push. But not everything on Typhon is as it seems, setting the stage for you and BT to journey through a hostile and strange, yet beautiful world.

The Bond Between Pilot and Titan
Titanfall 2 is about the bond between Jack and BT. That's the essence of the story we want to tell. And when you think about it, every “buddy story” has a kind of back and forth between its leads. They have to be able to react to each other or there is no relationship. That’s why we provided players a few responses to choose from when talking to BT. While these dialogue options don't change the outcome of the game, they give you a fun way to banter with BT by choosing the tone that best reflects your own personality.

Fight As You Will
We have a lot of people here at Respawn who have made what some consider the best single player campaigns in the genre, but we wanted to create something new and fresh, taking full advantage of the gameplay pillars of Pilot mobility, Pilot combat, and Titan combat. That’s why in Titanfall 2, we encourage players to be creative in battle. Some players will want to take a more surgical shooter approach, while others will develop a free-flowing chaotic style, chaining together slides, wall runs, melee executions, and more, mixing it up at high speed. Others will try a blend of techniques. The point is that all these interpretations are valid. You have the freedom to “fight as you will.”

That’s all for now. More to come as we get closer to launch. Stay tuned, and standby for Titanfall 2!

Today, Respawn Entertainment and Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: EA) announced that the Titanfall® 2 Open Multiplayer Technical Test will be available across two weekends in August for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system and Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft. Fans will be able to get their hands on the fast, fluid, Pilot and Titan gameplay that is at the core of the Titanfall experience while helping the team at Respawn test the Titanfall 2 servers and backend systems prior to the games release on October 28th worldwide.

It all starts the weekend of Friday, August 19th, where fans will be able to play two exciting new Titanfall 2 multiplayer modes across two maps:

MODES
Bounty Hunt (5v5): A brand new mode that pits Pilots and their teammates against an opposing team as well as the Remnant Fleet. Earn bonuses by killing grunts and enemies, but make sure and deposit all your points at the bank between waves without getting killed.
Pilots vs. Pilots (8v8): Players can be the best Pilot on the Frontier and put their combat and mobility skills to the ultimate test in this classic 8 vs 8 Pilots only mode.

MAPS
Boomtown: A secret underground IMC facility where the latest in R&D is put to the test. In this facility Pilots can use the many peaked roofs to use as cover against combatants below. With tight lanes through the middle, Titans can also be easily ambushed.
Homestead: The IMC have claimed Imminent Domain on a small commune’s plot of land. With a series of raised, rocky plateaus and a river running down the middle, Pilots are mostly safe from Titans among the rocks and trees but they also can duck into the caves and building when needed. However, the Titans control the large rolling fields.

During the second weekend of the Titanfall 2 open multiplayer technical test, all the content from the previous weekend will still be available, plus a brand new mode and map for players to enjoy:

MODE
Amped Hardpoint (6v6): A new twist on Hardpoint Domination from the original game; now defending a Hardpoint will let you amp it, giving your team double score. Team work is the key to securing victory.

MAP
Forward Base Kodai: Militia forces have taken over an IMC substation and set up a forward operating base. Pilots can find safety from Titans in the hallways and chambers of the main building, while Titans can walk over the roof to get a better view of the action.

During the open multiplayer technical test, fans will have access to two all-new Titans: Ion and Scorch, as well as a range of Pilot tactical abilities including Grapple, Holo Point, and Pulse Blade. Fans will also have access to a variety of weapons including a deadly horizontal spread shotgun known as the Masttiff and the Alternator, a dual-barrel SMG.

Good stuff.

Wait, so how are they going to make money pre release? I hope it's just skins and they don't sell titans or weapons.

I thought they'd sell packs of burn cards but it seems they've got rid of them for something else.

Have they?! I'm surprised they'd do that, always seemed like a quick - if cynical - win, to me.
I did ponder buying one of the titan AI voices once, though :shifty:

I've seen a lot of people saying they are getting rid of attrition mode. That can't be right surely? :? It was by far the most played mode in the first game and I'd seriously consider not buying if it wasn't in it.

No burn cards or Attrition? What the hell...? It was the only way to get a decent-sized game after the first 6 months or so of launch!

They better not have strawberry floated it because the first game was genuinely brilliant and had tons of potential. It was just let down by a lack of content.

The download is 12GB so that's getting downloaded overnight tonight.
