What we really should be angry about is game menus that hide the invert option in layers of options. It should be right there, at most the first option if you select 'controls'.

You mean immersed I guess as we all paid the same price. ;)
Yes, I'm probably not so immersed as I don't see myself as a bald marine or soldier.

Emotionally and Physically invested is what I meant.

It's off by default. Therefore that's clearly the right way.

I don't invert probably because I rarely mess with the options unless I have to (like turning trails off in GTA Vice City. Stupid trails.) therefore it's what I got used to.

Yep, because the controller is just like a real gun. And that thumb stick? Exactly like my head. Should really get it seen to, actually. If only I'd inverted sooner. I WOULD HAVE BEEN strawberry floating THERE.

Maybe you are supposed to strap the controller to the back of your head?

Yes?

I think I know what Nintendo might be revealing at E3 this year...

Perhaps that's how you perceive it, but I see it as a much more cerebral way to becoming even more emotionally connected with my controller.

I really think you are reading too much into this, it's a setting in the menu and based on personal preference, I really don't see how it effects on someones emotional investment in a game.

It makes as much difference to how you experience the game as switching A and B around on the controller. What WOULD hamper your immersion is using a control scheme that feels uncomfortable and unintuitive to you, hence you should use the settings best allow you to imput your action without thinking about the controls.

There is no logical arguement for one over the other. Inverting is not better because 'you tilt your head back to look up' because no one alive thinks about that when they look up, they just look up. The whole argument is entirely nonsensical. If need to think of it in those terms while playing inverted, I suggeted that you should try playing non-inverted as inverted obviously doesn't feel as natural to you as it should.

Yes, just like Metroid Prime 3's default controls.

OH, WAIT.

Its agreed then. Push down to look up is correct for MP3 and Yakuza 3, but totally wrong for all other FPS.

Did Prime have inverted pointer controls by default!? I never even noticed! :o

EDIT - Wait. I don't even...

Inverted all the way. All this talk of head movement is nonsensical. FPS controls are the grandson of flight sim controls, and in a plane pushing forward banks down and pulling back banks up.

I think that's where I've got it from. I was raised on (space) flight-sims, so I just carried over the control scheme without thinking.

wish PS3 had the option to select "Invert" always, in the settings like 360 does.
