Best thing about the preferences thing on the 360. Wish there was one for subtitles, though. Fed up of starting a game and then realising it's got subtitles off as default to make it a more "cinematic" experience :fp:

But yeah, I invert. It's what the pros do.

I question the sexuality of anyone that inverts.

I'm playing a videogame. I'm moving a crosshair around a screen. I'm not actually controlling the pivot of someone's neck.

Clearly invert. It used to be standard, but there's been a shift in the last 5 years to having non-inverted as the standard option selected. Madness.

Invert is only acceptable in flight sims.

I bet the non-inverters are the same kind of people who wipe their arse standing up.

You people sicken me.

I've tried playing verted but it just feels wrong. Inverted supremacy.

Except its not up that you are pushing on the stick, its forward. You might have always called it up, but that doesn't mean it is up.

Unless you are holding your controller at a weird angle.

So what non-inverters are actually doing is Forward = Up...which makes no logical sense whatsoever.

So when I was putting my cheats in for GTA games of old I was actually going "left backwards right forwards", not "left, down, right, up"?

I think that's a bit of a rubbish reason to say up isn't up. Also when you go through menus it corresponds to up and down.

I have nothing against inverters, I tend not to invert but I have played games invert, the former makes more sense to me.

Whatever you prefer, honestly. In a fps the important thing is that it feels natural and you do not think about the controls, only what you are doing in the game. So whatever setup allows you to forget you are controlling the character with a stick and not think about the action is the best. There is no right or wrong answer.

Personally, I do not invert because non-inverted is the standard most games I have played. I understand that inverted used to be common in older games, but I did not play FPS until more recently so I find that control scheme goes against all the intuition I have learned. If you have built up a habit of using inverted controls, by all means keep doing so, that's just how you roll.

Saying it's wrong to invert or not is like saying its wrong to be left handed or right handed. People have just learned to prefer one over the other.

Which, while obviously put up there to get a reaction, made me wonder why people would invert the y-axis? If I want to look up I push the stick forward, not down, it just makes sense.

What about you?

If you imagine your head as a thumbstick, when you push it forward, you look down. It just makes sense

Inverters 4eva.

Exactly 8-)

FPS and other shooters - Non inverted

Flying games - Inverted

For me anyway.

I invert. It seems to me that people who don't are more detached from the game as they're moving a target around a screen. People who invert are imagining themselves as the central character, and are controlling him in the game world rather than some arbitrary point.

I'm not sure. What is default usually? Inverted right?

I know I use Inverted for 'flying'

I think the pandemic of not inverting is linked to the thalidomide birth defects in some way. Might need to check my facts on that.

I never change the settings tbh, If a game is inverted as default, I'll play it inverted, if not I won't, I'm ambidextrous me!

Like I said, it doesn't matter what you always called it, physically its backwards and forwards.

On menus you push forwards to go up, you aren't pushing up. Not that difficult to understand.

Who inputs codes with a control stick? D-pad all the way. Those DO have an up and down.
