With no free market, how many Toblerone's are you allowed in duty free?

Ahh gooseberry fool  We're strawberry floated.

I demand a re run of the referendum, no one explained to me that i would not be able to bring in significant numbers of a superior toblerone in from mainland EU. No one could have foreseen this, the situation has changed.

I'm just about ok with this as I rarely buy Toblerones but if this kind of thing filters down to the Ritter Sport then I'm marching on parliament.

The makers of Toblerone, Mondelez, has announced they will be reverting the chocolate bar back to its traditional shape after an outcry over a move to widen the gaps between the triangles.

The 150g bar was reduced from 170g in 2016 as a way to keep prices steady at about £1 a bar.

The ‘new’ version will weigh 33% more and retail for a RRP of £3.09, with a promo price of £2-£2.50.

A Mondelez spokesperson said: “We’re always reviewing our range to make sure we provide great quality Swiss chocolate in formats we know our fans love. The 150g Toblerone is no longer being manufactured and therefore availability of the bar depends on how much stock an individual retailer is carrying. But 100g and 360g size bars will still be available.”

Poundland will no longer stock the bars. Toblerones are the discount chain’s most popular product and it sold 12m of them last year. Poundland said that stocks would run low within weeks.

The discounter said it would instead bring back a redesigned version of “Twin Peaks”, its Toblerone copycat bar, at the end of this summer.

Poundland sold half a million of the lookalikes earlier this year but has been forced to redesign it after a legal battle with Mondelez.

And all was right with the world again.

Wait, so they're increasing the weight by 33% but the price by 300%?

I fully expected something along these lines to occur (y'know, the return to its original form) but the price hike I did not see coming

Definitely. Greed isn't it.

Toblerone, Ferrero Rocher, Terry’s chocolate orange, Ben and Jerry’s, Green and Blacks, Haagen Daz...all these products used to be very expensive, premium brands. But over the last 10-15 years they’ve devalued these brands to the point they’re on a never ending discount. And then because the consumer has become conditioned to paying peanuts, rather than hike the price up (and make less profit) they keep shrinking the packaging. Other times they just hack away at the quality. Mr Kipling stopped using free range eggs because they just have to sell it for £1. Look what Cadbury’s has done to Roses and their other chocolate.

Ben and Jerry’s used to be £6. Always. Now it’s on sale for £2-£2.50 in ASDA every other week and the only people paying £6 for a tub are the silly bollocks ordering it from Domino’s.

Speaking of shrinkage, have you seen the size of multipack mars bars lately? They're what used to be known as fun size!

The problem is these comapines need to show yearly profit increases to satisfy shareholders. Constant price rises are one way of insuring year on year profit increases. At this point I'd rather just buy a small amount of expense stuff like hotel chocolate than bother with any of the high street stuff. The price difference isn't even that large at this point.

I'm trying to cut down on the amount of chocolate and shite I eat, and I must say it's difficult when a bar of galaxy and a chocolate orange is on sale for £1. Still I have resisted for about 4 days now...go me.
