I thought I'd written that.

Doesn't make it any better though, it's just a really creepy sentence. :dread:

Simone Biles now on the beam. Great to see her performing again at this games.

Oh wow, that dismount!

Feel for Sunisa Lee there, really difficult stumble, and she's had an amazing games otherwise. There should be some amazing things to come from her in the future, though.

Was this on BBC?

Edit: Ah, they're showing it now after the fact.

That's been one of the points that has kind of annoyed me this cycle, seems like most stuff is being shown after the fact. I do understand that it's because they can only show it on a couple of channels at once meaning that some stuff will get missed, but I'd have thought showing possibly the greatest gymnast of all-time and one of the most high-profile athletes in the world would be shown live.

They're focusing heavily on British athletes so any event that doesn't have a British competitor is barely getting a look in on BBC. This is understandable, but as someone who cares more about watching specific sports than British athletes, it's pushing me towards Eurosport.

Feels like Chinese athletes have been told to lighten up and be more patriotic on the whole this games. After years of robotic performances it seems like there's much more smiling cheering and flag waving this time.

BBC should have binned off the diving earlier. It was obvious we weren't getting gold and it's put them behind for the last 2 hours.

Been getting more and more annoyed at most of the games not being on the BBC/free to view. Surely one of the principles of the Olympics and TV rights should be to ensure people can watch it, not locking it behind paid subscriptions just because the IOC gets more money from it.

Yeh it's bullshit. The events the BBC have covered have been done so with their usual quality but it's just sit we miss so much

I hope we get to see the climbing.

I can't imagine Discovery have actually made that much money from the UK market, particularly when so few people even knew they had the rights to the Olympics until the first or second day.

Europe might be a different story though.

Yeah, it's particularly frustrating, but understandable for a national broadcaster with a restriction on the number live events they can cover.

Eurosport coverage has been poorly publicised, meaning a lot of people are missing it entirely, and what has been broadcast has been patchy in terms of quality as well, although it's been improving. All events now seem to have commentary, and they're almost always showing what the EPG says they are, besides the 4K channel.

Will be watching Eurosport for the climbing, as it looks like they'll be covering the whole thing in full, and I'm super excited to finally see bouldering in the Olympics. I've never actually seen a sport that I do in an Olympics before.

It is very important to me that GBR overtakes Australia in the medal table so I can lord it over the Mrs until Paris.

(No idea how this originally ended up in the football thread)

Red button? Hard to know whether to watch that or the athletics. Excited for both.

The climbing is utterly bonkers. I'd struggle to do that distance in that time if it was horizontal let alone vertical.
