From what I’ve seen in the evenings, the BBC’s coverage has been vacuous beyond belief. I’m sure the live coverage in the early hours is great, but these ‘highlight’ programmes are very poor.

Good to see the IOC has learnt absolutely nothing from all the other sports that have chosen to go behind the paywall of irrelevancy.

The most daft thing about Discovery/Eurosport buying the rights for this, is they seem to have done nothing to advertise the fact they're screening it. I've spoken to plenty of people who've seen the BBC don't have everything on iplayer, and have simply assumed that that's it for live coverage. Awareness of where you can actually watch all of this is really poor.

Men's rugby 7s between GB and Japan was a bit one sided lol.

I don't think GB's 7s team have conceded a point yet in their first two games. Which is remarkable, even if they were playing against guff teams.

EDIT: Conditions are absolutely awful here. Might help the GBR racers but can't be fun. strawberry floating lost it there at the commentator calling the Gundam statue a "Gandum" too.

Gutted for the poor GBR athlete there, chances of gold were absolutely strawberry floated by circumstances completely outside her control.

Got to be pleased for the winner though, must be an absolutely incredible feeling to win your country’s first ever Olympic gold medal!

Women's tennis: Osaka, wold number 2 at home, knocked out by the world number 42. Feel so bad for Osaka there, that must be hard to take.

the label underneath switched from ‘appeared on splash’ to ‘tweeted his congratulations to daley’.

I did three laps of the car park at work because I didn't want to lose signal. Devastating.
