Did Gal Godot not teach celebrities that singing "Imagine" is a terrible idea? ;)

I knew there was a reason I never watch these opening and closing ceremonies. So boring.

Check out my YouTube channel!

I didn't know they invented them in 1964. It was an awesome segment.

It's really odd Nintendo weren't involved in the opening ceremony at all, especially when they had a segment of videogame music.

They used Mario in the 2016 handover, so not really sure what's happened.

I thought ours was actually pretty decent, it was certainly way better than the Rio one.

I assume they would have been were it not for the coronavirus. Not great taste to have a fun big show while Japan is in a state of emergency.

I thought the opening ceremony for the 2012 Olympics was brilliant. Had it recorded on my Sky plus for years.

Yeah, it was brilliant fun. Danny Boyle (I think from memory) knocked it out of the park (pun unintended)

I must also add, that the soundtrack was really something very special, the 17 minute long 'and i will kiss' by Underworld was an absolute masterpiece.

Ours was good to be fair, for the most part. The ongoing obsession with things like Jerusalem is always a bit cringe but otherwise it was an impressive spectacle

Crikey the constant BBC commentary over the opening ceremony is annoying.

I did enjoy when the North Macedonian team came out and the two Scottish commentators (Hazel Irvine and... Dougie Donnelly?) said:
"A proud year for North Macedonian sport with their first appearance at a football championships, exiting at the group stage."
"No shame there, take it from us!"

Just turned it on for my night’s entertainment. Hoping for the best, preparing to be 8 pints down by 11 due to boredom.

Andrew Cotter was the other one, he's been doing commentary on the BBC for a fair while, mainly the Olympics, athletics, and rugby, that I know him from at least
