Is mad isn't it?! The future looks bleak for console games if this is the reception to a 3+ million selling game.

I'm waiting for someone from Square Enix to come out and say gamers don't want to play as a woman.

I bought all the dlc so far released for this game.

Nice outfit. Lara looks silly running around mountaintops without a nice, comfy jacket on.

I loved this game. Only thing is, why didn't she pick up a jacket from anyone? Must have been bloody freezing in her tanktop!

I'm tempted to do another run through, it was just so much fun. Combat is a real joy, especially nailing a headshot for the insta-kill.

Started playing this last night and was completely blown away. The last 6 to 12 months of big game releases have been incredible, far exceeding games that came out earlier in this generation.

Whilst this is not the place to start this discussion, I thoroughly disagree with this statement. I would argue that this generation has seen a very steady release of top class games throughout. Rockband, Fifa, Gears of war, Assassins creed, Mass effect, Halo, Bioshock and Call of duty to name a few off the top of my head, have been around now since almost the beginning of the generation and are still very good now.

It is tempting to bite tomb raider at £25. But im in two minds as to if it will drop further.

I've have been playing this on hard and can't really tell the difference from normal. You seem to get less time to bit buttons in QTEs and enemies are more agressive about flanking you but that's about it (if you get a good spot where they can't do this they are just as east to dispatch).

I was thinking this while I was playing. Lara has ample time to loot a jacket off one of the guys she kills but never thinks to do so, even while running around a freezing mountain top in the snow.

I'll be fooked if I'm downloading some DLC just for a reskinned character though.

My God, Lara's voice is so annoying in this.

edit: She just said "Oh, don't do this to me you Northern bastard." in the most awkward, detached way ever.

My gf pissed herself laughing at that bit. It really does sound ridiculous.

Cal gets away with wanting to cover Lara up, you Alpha need to rethink that sentence.

That's the worst of it out the way. Lara only gets better and more convincing in my opinion.

Mainly when not interacting with the other crew members, who i find impressively boring. There's a reason why Anniversary is the best.

Game is good in my opinion, but overburdened with collectibles and mini-challenges (read: Collectibles) that only reduce the desire to bother to collect them. Especially unfun is constantly checking your map for teeny collectibles in a 30-metre vicinity just to sate your completionist tendencies. I found the same in Underworld, where each level had too many bullshit collectibles compared to Anniversary where they were sparse enough to matter and felt worth the effort.

And i have zero time for the boring-ass, conveniently strewn audio-logs scattered throughout the whole game. So tedious, and never added to me giving more of a damn about the plot. Less is more, folks.

I also wish there were fewer action set-pieces.

Despite these things, the core game is good and fun, with some exceptional camerawork and a real feel of physicality when crawling and creeping through cracks and crevasses. I've grown to like the new Lara, and her journey from zero to hero.

My main problems are that it just doesn't do subtle. Bangs you over the head with how she's just starting out and this is all new to her, again and again and again.

And the whole "scare" things, with enemies jumping out and grab happen with such frequency that every time you can't see past a corner or are somewhere creepy I'm expecting someone to jump out and grab you.

Guns have the problem of being Uncharted style peashooters, as well. Shoot them anywhere but the head and you might as well not have bothered. The bow is good, though, so that's just nitpicking on my part.

I'm also wondering why she decided to patch up Roth but has apparently left that awful thing which probably perforated her gut to go septic. And what kind of wolf steals a first aid pack that looks too big to fit in its jaws?

All these little things just add up to make it feel stupid and clumsy.

"Urgh, I hate tombs."

But on the whole, yeah, she's getting better. It's not really noticeable now, where as at first I couldn't believe they recorded this stuff without thinking how awful it sounded.

Enjoying it more, now. Also, I don't really care about any of the collectibles. Find it a bit odd that she's pilfering eggs, though.
