Like in 3, which is already trying to kill you off at every given opportunity as it is, whereas in the original the quicksand undulates and moves like waves, with the remade graphics it's now a solid texture - so if you're not familiar with the game, you're GOING TO DIE.

Hope that’s worked on and changed with a patch, seems a weird thing to not update.

Maybe it's AI related? I don't know how much of this remaster was done using that technique, but it seemed to cause a load of anomalies in the GTA Trilogy.

Saw a clip on X where in the original the water is flowing downstream, but in the game it's calm. I could be wrong here, but I think in the original the water then carries Lara away in that direction, but in this remaster you'd never know that unless you swap back to original mode beforehand.

Presumably these are the type of things that will be patched out in the next few weeks and months though.

The trophies for this show differently on the PS consoles. For PS4 they are each game separately. For PS5 they are all lumped under the one collection. Really impressed with quick go had so far, playing with the tank controls which seem right for these classic games

Just faithful to the original. And not Brexity if it’s got the two little windows.

I’d prefer to see them separately. Such a huge list to scroll through on Xbox.

Calm down Nigel Farinks, it was a joke.

The original "tank" controls are strawberry floating horrible. After switching to modern controls I'm enjoying it much more.

I saw that criticism in the Metro review. Put my right off purchasing, as I know the first time I accidentally do that will be the last time I open the software.

Gameranx's Before You Buy videos are always good. They're just released their Tomb Raider one for anyone considering this:

Just gonna put this here...

Tank Controls are better :capnscotty:

The camera seems to really struggle with the modern controls and I've struggled with some really simple jumps because of the camera. I've now switched back to tank controls and I'm having a much better time. I can actually move where I want to go and precisely set myself up for all the jumps. The camera follows exactly where I need it to be. I particularly found hopping back off a ledge to hang and shimmy to be frustratingly hard with modern controls but, with tank controls, it's impossible for me to fluff it up.

Other than that, it's a great remaster and I'm loving it. Keep switching to old graphics occasionally and it's such a great step up while being respectful to the source.

EDIT - Even shooting things is easier with tank controls. I can actually jump backwards and still shoot the thing without strawberry floating up.

Has the camera changed at all for the tank controls? I remember the camera focusing on certain POV's during sections but sometimes it seems to go off on it's own. I guess it's always been like that and my memory is hazy. Not too hazy that I didn't miss any secrets on the first 3 levels though 8-)

I believe that the camera mode pretty much matches the original games when using tank controls; but it has been updated for the modern controls.

(I only know this because it was mentioned in Digital Foundry's video analysis)

Played first couple of hours using Tank controls, my GOD it's good to be back.

NGL if they patch to make the old version 60fps I'd play through them all in that mode too, the old PS1 textures look kind of cool in widescreen and with no texture warping.

I'd rather play it through with the original graphics myself. Just hope they add in the higher frame rate from the old pc version (which shows it can be done) and the PlayStation reflections/dynamic lighting.

I wonder if David James is playing these again.

He blamed Tomb Raider for causing him to stay up late and being a gooseberry fool goalkeeper.
