This is soooo good.

I'm not great at finding the secrets in TR1 though. Hoping I can remember where they all are when it comes to TR2!

Appears like they're definitely returning to the classic character for the new version, thank god:

Looks like she's going to be late 30s based on this art, whereas I think in the originals she's supposed to be in her early 20s.

Really struggling to resist the urge to buy this now, sounds like they've done a good job on it!

The rumour for the last year or so is that they're going to somehow unify the timelines of the 3 versions Lara and continue the story from there.

Devs have confirmed a patch is coming to address various issues, unsurprisingly.

Doesn't sound like the 30fps will be changed though:

The OG game logic works at 30 Hz. For HD we use interpolation for object states, there is no way to "unlock" fps without adding interpolation which also adds up to 33 ms input lag.

Hopefully the stuttering issues will be addressed instead.

Oh they really have. It's fantastic.

I'd forgotten just how much I loved old school Tomb Raider.

I don't know how well it would work with a controller, but it would be brilliant if they could bring the level editor in Chronicles to console for the first time, and then allow people to upload their own levels.

From memory, there is a certain order you're ideally best tackling Tomb Raider III in. I can't remember what guide said it, but I'm sure the game is easier if you do Area 51 first (because she has all her weapons confiscated) and leaving London (one of the most memorable in my mind, yet one of the most brutal in the entire series) till later.

They changed it with this release so you can get your confiscated weapons back at the end of the Area 51 section, so you can tackle it in any order now and not worry about losing everything.

Stuttering is only on PC afaik. 33ms doesn't sound like a big deal to me....

This also has a crazy number of achievements and some of them look to be really tricky to obtain. There are some fun, creative achievements in there as well, such as smashing every "Bartoli B" window in Venice, that should add some fresh goals to aim for.

Really, really great package all round. Couldn't have asked for more really.

I know people say 1 is the best but I'm so excited to start 2 as that was the one I grew up with.

With the original controls, this is amazing. Modern controls are far too flawed. Also, the brightness settings are garbage, I've had to flick to original graphics just to see where I am going far too often. It's actually much better to play in original graphics and original controls than the modern stuff.

If they could fix the problems with remastered graphics, at least add a brightness setting, then I'd almost have no gripes. I think even if they fixed modern controls and added a proper "back up" which is crucial to these games, that would be a big step.

I guess my moron review is that if you were able to play the originals on PSP/Vita/pirate, stick with that. The remastered graphics are really nice, but without being able to adjust brightness, you will end up just playing the original PS1/Saturn/PC version. I guess for the price, I'm more than happy playing the original games on my Switch without the hassle of pirating using a PSP/Vita. It shows how much Tomb Raider lost when they ditched the core (pardon the pun) formula and instead of leading, they decided to copy Uncharted.

Have they kept the original ‘analogue’ controls in this (introduced on PS1 from 3 onwards), or do you have to use the d-pad when classic controls are enabled?

You can use the sticks with either control method.
