Been a long time coming, this one. I like that you'll be able to switch between new and old graphics as well. A physical edition would be nice (BIG BOX EDITION). Strange how they've omitted The Last Revelation and Chronicles though. TLR is better than the astoundingly tough III.

Also coming to PlayStation and PC:

Discover Lara Croft’s Original Adventures, Lovingly Restored

Play the Original Three Tomb Raider Adventures: For the first time ever, play the complete experience with all expansions and secret levels on modern platforms in this definitive collection.

Included Game Titles

  • Tomb Raider I + The Unfinished Business Expansion
  • Tomb Raider II + The Gold Mask Expansion
  • Tomb Raider III + The Lost Artifact Expansion
Solve Ancient Mysteries: Uncover treasures of the ancient world by solving puzzles and unraveling mysteries lost to the ravages of time.

Globe-trotting Adventure: Follow Lara Croft around the world and face off against deadly foes and dangerous myths.

Lovingly Restored: Experience the classics boasting upgraded graphics, with the option to switch to the original polygon look at any time.

How will a modern generation contend with the controls. :dread:

Gotta be honest, that looks strawberry floating shocking. Low effort shite.

(The actual visual remastering, I mean. As a package it seems like they’ve been considerate enough with it)

I want this just to return to the mansion and lock the butler in the freezer

They'd better not mess with the sound of the butler getting his ass trapped in the freezer - the jangle of his tea set always got my heart racing :slol:

I hadn't even considered the sound might be different

That is a deal breaker

Not sure if they can? The whole game design is based around that grid system and her moving around like a cumbersome tank. Analogue controls were added to TR from I think 3 onwards, but it's very bad from what I remember.

I think this is very much 'here's the original Tomb Raiders, but you can now play them on a modern TV without it all being a pixelated mess', in the same vein as the Doom, Quake, Turok, Duke Nukem, Goldeneye etc. releases we've seen. Much easier to update the controller layout on an FPS though.

I guess if you want something more modern, there's the excellent Anniversary.

I'm now considerably less interested in this because, as per usual, there'll be bugger all effort put into optimising the Switch version in comparison to the other platforms.

Looks great.

I'm sure the PS5 and XSX would be 4K with 60fps??

If this was £15 I'd be all over it but that price is probably just a bit too high for me (especially as only the first game is really a classic...)

The controls don't need updating, they fit what the game is doing fine, but whether a modern audience can recalibrate their expectations to meet it where it's at is probably going to be a hard one

Yep, XB1 and S/X, stated at the end of the non-Nintendo-branded launch video:

Two control systems to accompany the two graphic options, a “camera lock-on”, plus discounts for those who already own the games on Steam or pre-order on console:

Players can experience the journey their own way, with the ability to toggle on the fly between enhanced and original graphics, as well as switch between classic and modern joystick control schemes. Fans will also discover a variety of quality-of-life improvements, including camera lock-on and achievements.

Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Starring Lara Croft features:

Tomb Raider I + the “Unfinished Business” Expansion

In the game that started it all, adventurer Lara Croft has been hired to recover the pieces of an ancient artifact known as the Scion. Run, jump, swim and climb in fearless acrobatic style to find out the truth of its origin and powers, leaving only a trail of empty tombs and ammo in your wake. The original Tomb Raider comes complete with the “Unfinished Business” expansion, which adds four new bonus levels in two extra chapters.

Tomb Raider II + the “Gold Mask” Expansion

The award-winning second installment in the Tomb Raider series invites you to join Lara as she travels around the globe to retrieve the legendary Dagger of Xian, said to grant the powers of a fire-breathing dragon to its holder. Tomb Raider II includes the “Gold Mask” expansion, which adds five new bonus levels in a separate mini-adventure.

Tomb Raider III + “The Lost Artifact” Expansion

In Tomb Raider III, Lara follows the clues to a deadly secret in this complex adventure combining challenging puzzles with high-speed action. Boldly leap chasms and blast monsters in pursuit of a mystery that defies any earthly explanation. “The Lost Artifact” includes six new levels that continue Lara’s adventures from the original Tomb Raider III.

Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Starring Lara Croft is available to pre-order today for $29.99, with several opportunities for additional savings, including:

Console players can pre-order with a 10% discount (Some restrictions apply, see retailers/platforms for details.)

PC players who currently own Tomb Raider I (Steam), Tomb Raider II (Steam), Tomb Raider III (Steam), or Tomb Raider Trilogy (GOG) can pre-order with a 20% loyalty discount on the platform where they own the original titles.

Maybe Limited Run Games will do something special for a physical release.
