Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1&2 | PS4/PS5/XBO/XBS/Switch/EGS | September 4th 2020

Can’t get used to the d pad, and its a bit tricky using the analogue stick, but will definitely get used to it. Why can’t soundtracks be as great as they used to be? This goes for most 90’s playstation games. The latest games have really awful soundtracks in comparison.

I wonder, if this is successful, will they do 3+4 next?

I hope they do a remaster of the THUG games. THUG2 was my fave THPS back in the day.

Loving this remaster! Stuck on downtown though, which is where I got in the original THPS too. Haven’t even dived into 2 yet, which I’ve never played before!

Never cared for the THUG games so much but I loved three and four. Almost eighteen years to the day since I got hold of THPS3 on the Cube - I’m looking forward to getting stuck in to this later!

Got 100% on THPS1 this morning although I still have the gaps and individual skater stat points to collect. I really wish that it included THPS3 as that was the game I spent the most time with in my youth but this is a great package and I can't get enough. Love it!

Has anyone played Skater XL? I'm really on a skate hype now and it looks more like EA's Skate which was great for different reasons.

Think I'm gonna stream this for a couple of hours this afternoon, looking forward to it.

God I loved THUG much more than 3/4, I felt 3/4 they'd done what they could, THUG was a great direction, that even I wasn't keen on at first. Certainly the second one went even more over the top, but I loved the storyline of the first Underground.

If I remember you start off on the streets/neighborhood, you could scan your face in and such?

I wonder if off the back of this we'll see a new Tony Hawks? Although as I understood it was dead after the last one..

I guess they have a modern engine that actually works now so they could easily pump out a brand new game, Crash 4 style! Wasn’t the main problem with THPS5 the physics?

I remember Project 8 being decent.

There's definitely an audience for a new one, the problem with THPS8 and THPS5 is that they were woeful games.

Speaking of which, I just booted my copy of this up for the first time and can't get past the title screen. Just freezes when I press A to start, but the music continues to play. What the strawberry float!

Took three hours and two re-installs but I got it to work. It's damn good, but I am struggling to get the timing for reverts into manuals and therefore stringing combos together has been tough. Still, gotten through to the end of both careers.

I think, about four hours in, that this is probably the definitive "classic" Tony Hawk game. If they had put in the tracks from THPS3, or even added them as DLC, I think this would be the best release in the series by far. Absolutely fantastic piece of kit.

OK, I’m in. Especially as it’s cheap at CDKeys. The Deluxe edition seems to only add largely pointless cosmetics. Or am I missing something?

Sure. It only took two run throughs of most of the levels and I still have a couple of odd goals to finish up, but it’s not a long game in that respect at all. They never were!

Sure. It only took two run throughs of most of the levels and I still have a couple of odd goals to finish up, but it’s not a long game in that respect at all. They never were!

I remember getting stuck on Skate Heaven for some reason for hours

There aren't any goals on it in this, mercifully. It's just a free skate level.

A couple of the achievements/trophies on this are going to be absolutely monumental to get through. I reckon one of them will require you to get through the majority if not all of the 700+ challenges in the game...

Never actually played 1 or 2 apart from the a demo disc which had some hanger level on it. Going to be strange going back to 2 minute limits rather than the more 'open world' option of 3+4.
