Just started Yakuza 0 today! Pace is distressingly slow and serious so far, but I know giving it time will pay off.

100% stick with it, the game is fantastic and I really enjoyed it. Take your time with it and just let it all slowly sink in.

Bought 4 and 5 a few months back on PS3 in a sale and haven't even got around to playing them yet. :simper:

If I hadn't bought Judgment on PS4 like twenty minutes before they announced this, I'd be downloading 3 now.

Not played 0 yet but from what I've seen/read it's pretty different. In 0 while you have a few different fight styles you can switch between on the fly, in previous games you just have the one fight style. Your options will feel a little dialled back when you play Yakuza 3 because it's just Kiryu and the one style. But then Yakuaza 4 introduces three other characters you play as at different points in the story and they have their own specialities. Similar deal with Yakuza 5 which also introduces a character with 'dance battles'.

Oh cool, tbh, I don’t mind if it’s just one style, i don’t think I really varied up my fighting in 0.

Judgement is a fantastic game. Just a bit annoyed that the digital version was in the summer sale just a month after it’s release.

Not going to buy the remaster collection UNTIL I’ve finished Yakuza 1 and 2 (and I have 6 in my library as well.) Just maybe, it’ll be in a sale soon enough but I doubt it seeing that Yakuza 5 isn’t available until next year.

There doesn't seem to be any preorders for the hard copy yet. The inclusion of the PS3 case is pretty hilarious.

Anyone else playing the 3 remaster? It's nice having 60fps Yakuza again.

Have they made any gameplay imporvements to these remasters to make them feel more in line with recent releases? Or were they fine to be begin with?

I think it’s a straight remaster so it’ll probably play like the originals.

They're basically just 1080p/60fps remasters, but the localisation has been completely redone by the same team that localised the current gen games.

That looks surprisingly decent. You know, I've suddenly thought that this is what I'd imagine a new Streets of Rage to be. The upcoming SoR 4 looks neat in a retro way but this is how my mind thinks of a modern SoR; 3D, quick, slick and fun. All we have to do is lose the map, cutscenes and sidemissions, add the special strikes (rockets raining down!), ramp up the tune quality and - BLAM! - Streets of Rage 5 :datass: .

There’s sections of the games where your just moving from street to street or room to room fighting non-stop and it totally feels like modern Streets of Rage. The game director is and old school Sega guy and I don’t think he worked on the SoR games but I think you can definitely see some of the influence from that in the Yakuza games.

Heading into chapter 11. This game is massive. Very clever how money still feels vital, despite how much of it I can now accumulate. The minigames are mostly great, and both plots are genuinely solid - better than I expected.

Major complaints are the slow pacing, the odd variety to the cut-screen types, invisible walls, monotonous street encounters, and the annoying blind girl.

Feels like a 7.5-8 at the moment, but we'll see.

Bought this digitally, and will start yakuza 3 again sometime soon. I always felt that yakuza 5 was the best due to it being so varied and the start was also quite nice and a bit different. It could be considered the true end to the franchise rather than yakuza 6, which was scaled back quite a bit.

Yakuza 3 hostess game is awful. Paying thousands on jewellery without knowing how they affect the stats? :simper:
