I think I'll hold off though. Got exams until late June so will probably still be busy with Diablo.

Your first sentance explains the problems I had with the first. Those and the lack of co-op really made it less fun than it was. I mean I still completed it, but I'd never play it again.

I couldn't even be bothered to complete it. I think it was massively overrated by reviewers who didn't see it coming and probably didn't play more than five or six hours of it.

I feel same. I played for three hours, enjoyed it...then just stopped playing. Tried again few days ago, went "Meh". I'll keep at it though, as I want to finish it... but I'm not in rush to get it completed either.

It just didn't have same magic that Diablo II did, maybe lack of co-op ruins it? Or I just went with class that's pretty boring. Also I gonna say I don't like toolbar in Torchlight, thought it was pretty gooseberry fool to be honest. Hopefully TorchLight II will have better toolbar wise (as in, skills quickbar, etc).

Eh? The tool-bar in Torchlight was great. It certainly offered more customisation than anything in Diablo III. There is a proper story this time with Torchlight II with a proper over-world and wider variety of dungeons and creatures. It offers mod and LAN support from the get go as well as co-op.
What most people seem to forget is that the first Torchlight was developed and released in 11 months. That's an incredibly short development time and the game was good. In fact I thought it was great.
As I stated elsewhere there is quite a good bit of buzz about the Torchlight II beta. Chris Remo at Idyll Thums raves about it as do the PC Gamer staff, the Giantbomb guys are really digging it too. Total Biscuit seems to like it from the video posted in the last page and gamers from Neogaf seem to be loving it.
What with Diablo III, Torchlight II, Path of Exile and the forthcoming Lineage Eternal and Grimdawn, it really is a good time if you are an ARPG fan.

It's there if you don't skip every dialogue you came across. Diablo universe really has good story if you're like stories in games, although I can't comment on Torchlight having good story or not as I can't remember how it goes... :shifty:

Lack of story didn't bother me on Torchlight though, there was something else that I'm not keen on.

How is being able to retire your characters a positive and something to boast about in PR? Unless doing so gives some kind of special ability for a new character or a bonus somehow, but it just seems rather odd to say yay "You can quit on your character and re-roll!"

Also the end parts with the fishing and pets makes it sound like it's pushing for WoW audience too

I enjoyed Torchlight, up to the point I got really bored of it (End of mines) and then just pushed on to finish - never really found the loot to ever be worth going on for either, everything always seems barely improved and the enchanting was horrible with it's 80% fail rate all the time. Generally found it to be a rather unrewarding experience

Defo a Steam sale purchase as I cannot get enough of loot em ups

Ord - Sorry, didn't notice you replied to toolbar! I dunno, I just don't like it after getting used to Diablo II's for years. Diablo II offers simple, yet decent enough toolbar which I can use easily, whereabouts Torchlight 1 it just felt mess. Hard to explain... I guess I need to get used to it to see if it'll click, but compared to Diablo II it's clunky as hell for me.

Maybe I should just admit that I'm huge Diablo fanboy

It always had a story, but it was mostly background lore in the manuals and things.

So this will definitely not be coming to consoles?

A shame, as the XBLA port was really great. I liked it better than the PC version, even if it didn't have mods. :shifty:

When you retire a character you can donate a Legendary piece of gear or rare spell to your new character.

That's pretty cool - I thought it'd be something like that, just seemed odd not to mention it in a PR piece as it seems a little silly stand alone

I'm disappointed in the apparent lack of a "Summoner" type class. That's the type of character I always go in games like this, so I'm going to have to find something new to play as. Quite liked the look of the Embermage so might give that a shot.

I'm loving how different this is looking from the original. So much more variety in the locations and enemies.

played some torchlight 1 for the first time this morning, i was only going to play it for about 30 minutes and ended up playing it for about an hour 15. It was pretty addictive and reminded me of diablo a lot . The thing is i don't think i am going to get diablo as i prefer the style of torchlight and torchlight 2 .

Torchlight 2 beta stress test this weekend
Tom Senior at 11:33am May 18 2012

If you’ve been wrestling with error 37 in Diablo 3 this week and want to help a different company stress test their servers, there’s a Torchlight 2 test session happening this weekend. It could be a good opportunity to get in on the last leg of the beta if you haven’t received an invite yet. You can sign up for a chance of grabbing a slot on the Torchlight 2 site.

Before Diablo 3 arrived, Tom had the chance to jump into the beta and take some videos of Torchlight 2′s. The Embermage is above, but you might want to check out the Outlander, the Engineer and the Beserker as well. They look insanely powerful. It’s available to pre-purchase now on Steam for £14.99 / $19.99, and comes with a bonus copy of Torchlight 1, which was quite excellent.

So looking forward to this. Apparently it'll run on the same specs as the first Torchlight (I remember reading that at some point) so that's good for me and my aging laptop!

Lego Grand Theft Auto... You KNOW you would buy it.
