That price and Diablo 3 being DRM'd to the eyeballs and players buying power left right and centre will mean that this will have a successful launch. Certainly somewhat interested in it, even though the first game wasn't my cup of tea.

Blatantly going for the Christmas release spot that served Torchlight so well.

How am I only just discovering this game? It's a simple dungeon crawler with scale-able loot and monsters, so addictive! I've been playing Torchlight 1 for about 8 hours since accidently deleting my steam saves/installs :fp:

I've had it in my account for ages, keep meaning to start it and finally got round to it, don't really know what I'm doing apart from looking for more bad ass loot! Level 20 Berserker now

Torchlight 2 delayed to next year

Torchlight 2 has been pushed out of this calendar year, according to Runic Games co-founder Travis Baldree. Citing the need for extra polish time and the desire to run a beta before launch, Baldree says the extra time will "ensure that the quality level is consistent all the way to the end."

In the meantime, Baldree suggests playing a few other games like Skyrim and Battlefield 3. "Those are awesome games," he said. "When Torchlight 2 goes live, we want it to be awesome too - all the way through."

"The first Torchlight was released in record time, but it had plenty of issues that a little more development could have resolved," Baldree said in a statement on the official site. "We didn't have the resources at the time to give Torchlight that treatment. Right at this moment though, we do have those resources for the sequel, and we feel strongly that we should apply them to make this the best game we can make and hopefully one that you'll enjoy and continue to want to play in the future. We've probably had 18 months of full development time on it so far - not excessively long yet, as far as that goes. The amount of time we need to take it the rest of the way is relatively small."

A bit poo for those looking forward to it but at least it'll give me more time to play the first game.

While it's obviously good that they're releasing a better game, I think they're going to miss out on a lot of Christmas sales.

Oh dear! That's uncomfortably close to Diablo III.

Yes, I know it's coming out after Diablo III, however it's this that I'm looking forward to more. Personally I think there's room for both in my games collection.
Torchlight II now available for pre-order on Steam

I have zero interest in this, in light of Diablo III.

I wonder how many others feel similarly.

Torchlight 1 was good, but only played a hour or so of it. If it had co-op it would be a different story.
If Torchlight 2 has decent co-op, I will buy it, after Diablo of course.

This will drop in price in some sort of sale before too long. Diablo III will not, so really you are buying it the wrong way round

Well I'm loving the first right now and it will be released at least a month after Diablo 3. Plenty of room for both. So both on release for me.

I originally picked it up on XBLA and found the controls on the 360 controller a dream. Ended up buying the PC version at Xmas in the sale and the mouse/keyboard approach seems a bit harder, don't know whether it's because I've not given it enough time at all.

Will have to go back to it possibly tonight and see what I can produce :D

If I preorder it via Steam am I correct in thinking they charge you for the pre-purchase now?

Would have been all over this if it released before Diablo III, but now it's in the Steam Sale category.

Yes. On the plus side you get another copy of Torchlight 1 to give away.

Ended up playing quite a bit last night and after the initial learning curve of the mouse, keyboard approach i realised why I loved this on the XBLA so much.

Can probably see alot of my weekend being sucked up by revisiting this gem again.
