Yep, my 3 year old laptop will run it as well, even though the GPU isn't very good (GeForce GT 240M).

Signed up at their site, so hopefully I'll get an invite. :D

Just got an email with my weekend beta key!
Shame I'm working today, but I'll crank it up tonight.

Me too!

Their server seems a bit busy at the moment, as I'm only getting around 150 kB/s when DL the rest of the game from their client.

I'm in too, At least this should help stave off any Diablo 3 cravings this weekend.

Also in for the beta. Downloading the client now, but evidently the server's getting hammered. (roughly 120kb/s, and that's just the initial download) Then again, it is a stress test.

[Edit] Downloading the actual client now. 30kb/s

How big is the actual download? Might check it out if I can nab it quickly.

20Mb for the launcher, about 700Mb for the actual game. Don't expect it to get it too quickly however: my download is somewhere between 30 and 50 kb/s.

There's been some noticeable improvements since the first game, hasn't there?

I think it's great. I still hate using ranged weapons because of the (gooseberry fool) mouse controls, but other than that it seems like they've made everything a little bit better, and added multiplayer and some other stuff.

Yes, but I registered yesterday and I got my code early this morning, so there's a good chance you could get one before it ends on Tuesday.

Played through to level 10 and turned in a couple of quests. Fought General Grell and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.
I love the back story they've given to the original characters from the first game as well.

Went with the Embermage to start. Took some getting used to, having been the Alchemist in the original, but quickly picked up the basics.

Need to play more of this. Awesome game. :D

Can't wait to finally be able to tell Ord with some authority that the game he likes is crap. 8-)

Maybe I never got far enough with the first, but did that have these big open world areas in it like this does? They feel a bit odd. The OCD dungeon crawler in me wants to uncover all the map before moving on to the objectives, but the whole Temple Steppes area seems huge, and I keep filling up my inventory, having to send off my pet, etc.

I'm liking a lot of the changes, no limits on identify scrolls will be a real god-send. Wouldn't have minded at least a bit of an engine upgrade, at least at the high end, but I suppose there'll be high res mods out soon enough.

I picked an engineer, which is apparently just a new name for a Barbarian, which wasn't really a good start to things. Looked at his skill tree and it was dull as anything. Granted, there are changes, but nothing particularly exciting. Combat is also essentially dull and just feels out of date and slow compared to my Monk in D3.

My main problem with the first (that the combat is rubbish) doesn't seem to have changed that much then. Should I try the berkserker class? Basically I want to try the newest kind of class. I'm not interested in playing as a rebadged Wizard/Barbarian/Ranger in 2012, especially if you're not doing anything really new with them anyway.

Beserker is closer to the Diablo Monk, yes.

I'm not looking for something that is similar to the Diablo monk, I'm looking for something that isn't just a slight remix of the Barbarian/Elementalist/Ranger from Torchlight 1, which all bored me to tears.

You are a bit unkind about the engineer too. The Engineer is more interesting than your basic barbarian and is basically your tank class that has access to multiple gadgets like the spider mines and healing bot. He's slower paced than the other classes due to the slow charge of his special ability. He backs a punch, however I think the berserker class (a cross between Monk and Barbarian) may have the highest DPS, especially as his charged ability is constant crits.
