Just in case that post was misleading to people who haven't played the game...

You must know that the game tells you where you are on the leaderboards for everything from local region up to worldwide every time you complete a challenge.

Anyway, I've pre-purchased on PS4, played for a few hours, long enough to know the game is good, also didn't notice any screen tearing at all when I was playing it.

Its pretty annoying that you can't run your own dedicated server as with every other trackmania game. Picking a room and having the screen covered in timing boxes and other UI garbage was what made trackmania special:

Wow, so in addition to no player-run dedicated servers there won't be leaderboards for user-created tracks. So what's the point of making and uploading them then? I'm still going to play this as I love the visual style, the handling and the environment, but i've also reinstalled the previous trackmanias just in case...

Incase I get bored with it and want some more janky-as-fuck trackmania of old.

So on the PC version there are NO graphics options at all. Fortunately it seems to default to your monitor res, but time to fiddle with the GPU settings to get some vsync and a bit of AA on the go.

EDIT: It's in a drop-down menu when you launch it, like previous TMs. You'd think by now that Nadeo would get with the program and have in-game options.

Got the day off work so sat down for some Trackmania, except that my pre-ordered copy has downloaded but no unlocked. There also doesn't seem to be a way to unlock it either as the store just comes up with the full price. Won't be pre-ordering anything through the PS4 again!

Yeah, seems to be like that for everyone. :fp:

It's almost as if the European PS Store team are utterly incompetent.

I preordered the PC version on Amazon US in December when the price showed up at $10, thinking there's no way they'd honour it, but it turns out they did. So got it for about £6 and as it's a uplay code it unlocked as of 8am this morning :datass:

Managed to get a refund from Sony so I'll be picking this up on disc now. Shame as I was looking forward to getting stuck into this today.

I was amazed that they managed to get the fallout DLC sorted in less than an hour. Shows they can get things done when they want to.

Oof, I can understand the frustration. It's painful at the time but we always come back for more. I recall saying the same thing when Deadly Premonition on PS3 finally arrived for pre-orderers nearly two weeks after launch!

EDIT: Before anyone comments... yeah, I said it about PS3, not PS4  .

I'm definitely impressed with this game. Runs at a locked 60fps with everything maxxed-out just fine (PC version) and looks lovely (especially like the Lagoon environment - brings back memories of those old 'Sega Blue Skies' days). Got my copy for £17.99 as a UPlay key. Can see myself spending a lot of time with this and probably participating in the MP side of things. Track editor/generator seems like a lot of fun, too.

They've fixed the PS4 preorder issue (at least they have for me).

I have some cool ideas for lagoon rollercoaster tracks, but what's the point if you can't have long-term leaderboards etc. for custom tracks? I love the visual style but have concerns over longevity/player retention if the structures for building server communities aren't there.

Yeah, it seems in their infinite wisdom they granted the pre-orderers the demo rather than the full game. They seems to have fixed it now, so restore your licences and you should be able to play.

On the one hand, this is supposedly not a replacement for TrackMania 2, and Lagoon will be made available for it. On the other hand, the concept of building server communities seems to have completely died out. Even Valve is well in the process to becoming 100% matchmaking.

No need for that, I think it should just work now.
