Travel With RichardUK

Day 1: Today is the day, I have left my partner of 13 years, my house and my job, I’m in a taxi on the way to my parents, I have been pretty much crying all night and this morning had what I believe is a panic attack, I feel like I have never felt before, trying not to cry now, writing this thread may seem to some of you self indulgent but it’s helping me and gives me something to do, I wrote my partner a letter that I have been adding to for weeks, I keep thinking about him reading it and not knowing what to do, I will stop thinking about that now as I think I’m getting away with just looking like I have a cold,
I have been ordering things online and having them sent to my parents so I need to pack when I get there,

Very sorry to hear this Richard. Wishing you all the best. If you're forcing yourself to make such a difficult decision, then it must be for the best in the long run. Keep us posted on your progress
Where will your travel take you?

From what you've said before in the HDYFRN thread you've done the right thing for both of you. You're going to be okay. It may be a bit hard at first seeing as it's a whole different way of life after 13 years but it'll get easier over time.
By the title name of the thread I thought this was going to be pictures of your holiday or something like that.

Sounds like a natural response to shock and trauma. Good luck and best wishes with the initial process.

Thank you everyone so much, it really does mean a lot and I don’t feel so alone, I am currently at Sheffield train station in the first class lounge, my train to Manchester airport is not until 14:11 so I’m extremely early, I’m going to stay at the Hilton for a couple of nights and my flight is on Sunday at 09:55 to Orlando for all September,

This sounds like an amazing opportunity. I really think you'll feel the weight off your shoulders as you step off the plane in America!

I always feel the crushing realisation that no matter where I am in the world, I’m still me.
Not saying that’ll happen to you though
just to temper any expectations of your problems being solved by being away! Sure it’ll help. Have a good one.

Hope everything goes ok dude, I know things have been pretty rough lately so you could probably do with some time away anyways.

Thank you again everybody
It really is the most difficult thing I have ever done, it’s still killing me Inside but after so long you would expect it to,

I’m in Manchester now but just going to stay in my hotel room tonight, tomorrow I want to go to the Trafford Centre, what’s the best way to get there from near the airport train station? I have looked and it seems it may just be easier to get a uber, I did think the tram might have gone there but it doesn’t look like it does
