Treme is a neighborhood in the city of New Orleans. The series takes place three months after Hurricane Katrina where the residents of New Orleans, including musicians, chefs, Mardi Gras Indians, and ordinary New Orleanians try to rebuild their lives, their homes and their unique culture in the aftermath of the 2005 hurricane.

Bit of a slow burner, but still worth watching. It's already been renewed for a second season.

I enjoyed the first ep, I can see why all the usual suspects were moaning that it was gooseberry fool but seriously it was it's first ep give them a break as it's an introductory ep.

yes, Monday is Treme download day.

I love the music permeating through the show, it's like it just bubbles under the surface.

Enjoyed the pilot episode.

I'll probably go through The Wire first and then come back to this.

Just finished watching the second episode and it's awesome so far.

John Goodman is great, especially in the first episode and his comment about Harry Potter had me chuckling away.

I'm enjoying the various storys that are mixed in and I'm genuinely interested in what's going to happen to some of these characters. Any word on how long the season is?

I haven't started watching this yet. I was going to wait until all of the eps have aired then watch at my own pace but I might give in and start watching it soon :shifty:

Very typical David Simon. I dunno what to make of it.

The music is brilliant. It really has thrown something else into the mix. But I wasn't a fan of The Wire. Too slow and felt like nothing ever happened. I know some people love it for the complexities and the many different levels it operated on, but I stopped after getting to season three because I was bored to tears.
The likes of Mad Men and The Sopranos have that same level of intrigue, mystery, wonderfully crafted storytelling and freeze-frame capture of an era but with far more purpose and drive, in my eyes. I suppose I just watch shows to be entertained and gripped rather than battering scenes around my head trying to remember who said what because I couldn't understand what they were saying and why nothing seems to have changed. I guess I just like an old-fashioned story, which Simon rarely serves up. I loved Generation Kill but that may be because it was far shorter and driven to a conclusion/narrative we all loosely knew.

I'll keep going until the end of the season. I'd also recommend "Justified" for anyone that's a fan of Elmore Leonard's work.
