RetroCora wrote:Basically what happened was after Sprout and Nun died I allied with Drumstick and - separately - a coalition of people from other groups to try and keep us, Chris and Mic alive. So any erratic voting came from that. I also resisted using a bullet on Drum when other team members wanted to, because I was hoping his vote might come in handy a little later in the game. And it did, a little bit!

Myself, OB and Drummy had saves on us for what felt like ages. Before the second weekend vote when I went up.

So it was annoying when they shot Frank, the one member of the gang not protected.

Mommy told me he knew who the wolf was on his tribe

Thanks for running the game Dan. It was a very unique dynamic and went on forever, must have been hard work!

I'd definitely be interested in playing again with a few tweaks to 1. Speed the game up slightly and 2. Try and maintain some level of uncertainty about everyone's tribe. The shift from nobody knowing what tribe you are on to the whole list being revealed was very sudden.

I was going to suggest that perhaps tribes would shoot who they thought most likely to not be protected, and then I woke up dead :(

That was my call, because it was blatantly obvious that you would have a protection on you. The best way to get rid of you was always gonna be through the public vote. Your public proclamations were intensely frustrating because it was blatantly clear you were working to manipulate public opinion but I couldn't risk debunking some of the stuff you were saying without putting myself in the firing line.

Congrats to Pro Village!

I enjoyed both taking part and observing the game in my death. Shout out to my tribe mates in Red Tribe. It was fun to play with you all.

I hear Dan is looking to host TVT2, starting on Monday... :shifty:

One thing I really liked is how Aayl1 was picked up on for Tribe Your Eyes Mate when I'm pretty sure is was Tsunade who came up with it.

It was a great game, congrats to PV for a well deserved win, especially in controlling the late game interrogation votes, and big thanks to Dan for hosting!

It was, obviously, a long game, I think if the format comes back in the future it would be good to find a way of speeding things up to a more manageable time frame. I'm glad I wasn't in Dan's position, commendable job on keeping the hosting momentum!

As a new format it was likely to always have some balancing issues, but I think it was remarably well thought through from a balance perspective. If anything it was over balanced as the leading tribe was always the biggest threat to the others so the combined effect was that no tribe was ever going to pull far ahead and similarly any trailing tribe would always get respite to catch back up. Once tribal allegiances were known I think it going down to a last man standing shootout was almost inevitable.

My biggest critique (and as a vigi you know what this is already) was powers being tied to whole team activity. As an individual playing the game it leaves you without much agency and powers were so vital to the game that being without them felt like a huge disadvantage that wasn't our fault and little could be done about.

The other standout point, as others have already made, was how quickly the game pivoted from complete uncertainty to complete knowledge. This is probably the hardest thing to get the balance right on, but it meant the early game was very cagey (especially given the tactics vigis were forced into without the option of streaks) and then it pivoted to more of a diplomacy game in practice. That middle ground of deduction and persuasion never properly materialised, or not for long anyway.

A last note on deduction and reasoning, in that early game I felt like there was a lot of information to learn from putting in a lot of effort, but that was quite binary - either you put in a substantial amount of effort and learn a lot, or you don't and play blind. You couldn't really put in a little bit of effort and learn a little, it was all or nothing. I was glad we had sawyerpip willing to crunch the stats, because personally I was on a level willing to put in a fair bit of effort, but I ended up doing nothing because I realised I would need to put in more effort than that to get some results.

Yeah, Dan did a great job as host.

One thing i'd like to see in any future game is for some players to have their own powers (such as arsonist, lone wolf etc) as that would create a little more uncertainty and unpredictability to proceedings.

The quick lurch from no knowledge to open knowledge was, I think, largely a result of the List Contest - which I had originally intended as being Week 3's Contest, but brought forward as a Bonus Contest simply because momentum in the game seemed to be dropping. The long run of unsuccessful interrogations seemed to result in a slowing down of activity, and I expected that the lists might speed things along - but I never expected it to reveal quite as much information as it ended up doing!

The Vigis' guesses were pretty accurate before the List Contest. I assume everyone else's were too.

It was actually Don't Post Saturday Wednesday that gave away the most information.

(EDIT: Oh, it was a main contest on Wednesday wasn't it, not a bonus contest. I don't know why I said Saturday. It was a long time ago now to be fair.)

My guesses where shote

I basically copied the player list from the OP and just selected 8 people at random and slapped any tribes to them. I think I should have thought about it instead

Between this, shooting Cora and editing that post instead of quoting it, you gave us a lot of laughs.

Yes, the list contest revealed pretty much everyone's tribes. With knowing Pedz's list was entirely accurate and one of them (Qikz's) had 7/8 right along with knowledge of own tribes it was all about working it out
