Christ, how old are you??!!!
How rude! Not
that old. Maybe it was just because we were poor and northern, but I don't recall seeing many (if any) pumpkins in the 70s or early 80s.
It was the same for me man! I'd never seen a pumpkin when I was a kid and we used to make Jack O' lanterns out of big turnips. In Scotland it was called "Guising" instead of "Trick Or Treat" and we had to sing a pish wee song for the sweets. Something like -
"Halloween is coming!
Halloween is coming!
Ooooooooooooooooh!
Flap Flap Flap goes the big black bat.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Booo!!!"
or -
The Sky is blue
and the grass is green
please give me something for Halloween!
This was the strawberry floating 70's mind!
