We've got a Hotpoint condenser tumble dryer that has just entered into its 10th year of service for our family of 5 so it has seen a lot of use and is still going!

I have had to do various repair jobs on it from about the 5th year of operation, mainly replacing the drum belt twice, the motor spring and the motor itself, but those were pretty easy to do and the parts cost peanuts so it wasn't too bad.

That's said if I had the cash I would probably get a Miele. Up until recently we were using a hand me down Miele washing machine that lasted the best part of 25 years

It's a stationary one with a louvre that changes the direction of the air slightly, and it's very quiet. Seems to help a bit. Use normal laundry hangers, although I must admit, I strawberry floating hate the things enough that once I threw one down the stairs. I'm always tripping up on them.

I haven't used a tumble drier in about 13 years. strawberry float knows how much money that's saved.

The only thing I miss tumble driers for is towels.

You'd definitely benefit from a dehumidifier, they take moisture out of the air which helps stuff dry faster. You can dry stuff in doors in the summer in like 2 hours.

They're nice in the summer too on those humid days if you section off a room. I know it doesn't sound like much but having 50% instead of like 80% humidy does help you stay cooler.

I bought my dehumidifier in 2019 and I kept remarking how it was my favourite thing I'd bought that year :lol:

getting old

I have a large Dimplex one in the cellar and yeah it keeps the room crazy cool but strawberry floating freezing in winter. As I'm working in there most weekdays I don't really suffer from the heat all that much.

At least that is until I turn on my heatpress which is 180 degrees. It came with the place which is good because if it got humid in here (and it has) half of my sketchbooks, stock, art and gooseberry fool would get ruined.

I just hang my towel on radiator, fortunately have one in the bathroom, its dry by morning.

You're right though, most people struggle to dry clothes because the air is essentially wet. Good luck with that.
