The viewing distance makes a big difference though, playing at distance on a TV can be pretty comparable to a smaller screen but up close.

Yeah, it's highly dependent on your setup, and indeed your preferences.

Playing on my phone is comparable to sitting on the sofa and playing on the TV in terms of how much of my field of view is taken up by the screen. I played most of Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart on my phone and never felt that the experience was in any way diminished

Also, I'm not using touch controls. I have a Razer Kishi controller for my phone.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

How is the Kishi? I've been tempted by one but it's a lot of coin for a specific use case controller!

I’ve not read the reviews, but I think one of the headlines said it’s meant to be quite challenging, in a good way. I played it for a couple of hours and didn’t encounter anything too difficult (except, in a Souls-like way, when I strayed into a tough area too early). That’s not to say it’s Souls-hard. There’s just an item I haven’t got yet that will definitely help.

You do have to pay attention though. There are clues, but it doesn’t stick them up in lights.

There's also this -

You can adjust difficulty at any time by toggling the No Fail mode which prevents damage and makes it (nearly) impossible to die. You can also Reduce Stamina Restrictions that allows you to take actions (dodge/attack) more frequently.

Played a few hours lat night and it's lovely. Reminds me of Zelda crossed with fez and deaths door.

Short patch notes from their Discord -

I'd like to do up more robust patch notes at some point, but super generally:

• optimizations, both general and in a couple of key areas
• music and audio adjustments
• a whole pile of bug fixes and visual tweaks!

The list of fixes is quite long but those are the important highlights. More patches are incoming as we fix more stuff!

Absolutely loving the game so far.

Put about an hour into this last night. Weird that I enjoy it way more than I remember liking the demo last year.

Got the sword and took out the huge dude in the guard house :datass:
Then saved and went to bed. More tonight.

I came to post this, so far playing on gamepass this is my favourite thing about it. The art in the manual is so cute as well. I also love how you can't read anything to begin with and uncovering translations in the instruction manual gets you the ability to read stuff.

I was about to post the same thing. It's a great idea and far better than the usual modern way of explaining the controls.

It's so good, I love looking for little secrets in the drawings. I found one by accident by throwing dynamite in the water at a specific spot, which gave me an achievement for figuring out something hidden in a margin, which was total fluke as i was actually trying to see if i could blow a hole in the wall at a dead end and it bounced off in to the water .

The garden boss is kicking my ass though :dread:

One other little thing I love so far is when you find a little shortcut that when you first walked past you probably wouldn't have noticed/would have had no way to see so it allows you to get around the map easier once you discover them.

That boss really strawberry floated me up so many times, but it's because I kept rushing. I also found the shop and thought it was some kind of scary place so didn't go in it before.

Only confusing thing now is I've done that, got back to where I was and now I can't work out where the hell I need to go.

I made a first attempt on that boss just now, and it certainly gave me what for. :slol:

Just before that I went through the area to the south and beat the Librarian. Now that was a rough fight. :dread:

I wish I'd known about praying earlier on! I've found myself back tracking quite a lot to activate things I'd missed the first time around!

I take back what I said about the other two. I just went over to the east and fought the Siege Engine. Must have taken me a dozen tries. :dread:

I found the librarian and noped out of that one, and had one crack at the siege engine, got it to about a third left and called it a night.
