The tech is interesting, if it works how I think it will.

Don't know if anyone still cares about this, but Ubisoft announced a load more track for Rocksmith this week.

Still no massive system-shifters amongst them, though :(

I know this is a bit of a bump, but I can't tell if this is out in October or not. Wikipedia says October, but doesn't specify which region. IGN says December, but we know what they're like.

Probably going to get it anyway.

This is getting some pretty good reviews as a learning technique (but only if you're looking to become an intermediate player) but not so good as a game. I'll probably pick it up though. Anyone seen any word on a EU release? I'll be getting it on PS3 so importing won't be an issue if not. Amazon are selling it for £90

The last I saw of it, it 'listens' to the sound from the guitar then matches it to what it should sound like.

As long as your guitar's in tune there shouldn't be a problem. The game requires you to play each string before you start a song so I would expect it to tell you if you're out of tune.

I think the game looks good. How it displays the notes is quite different from Rock Band, actually showing each note for each string. If the game's released over here and I had an electric guitar, I would probably consider getting it.

So it works like Singstar? A worthy alternative method to RockBand 3.

It works a lot better than I was expecting. The UI takes a while to get used to, but once it clicks it's great fun. Much nicer to use than Rock Band's Pro Mode. The tracklist is dire though, so be prepared to pick up 10/15 DLC tracks (at 240 points each :| ) on top of the price of the actual game.

Seems pretty thorough on teaching the techniques, too. There's a whole load of minigames to help improve your tremolo picking, scales and whatever.

Thinking of picking this up would it be a good way of learning how to play the guitar if so how much am I looking for a guitar to go with it.

Cheers

I could do with some improvement of my guitar skills, so I might pick this up eventually.

I think it's a better way of learning than just sitting down with a standard tab (especially for solo sections and the like). It's got an adaptive difficulty so you start off just playing one note a bar, then it adds in more notes as you build up a combo until you're playing the full riff. Even when you're not playing the whole song it feels pretty badass. If you're a complete beginner then there's also a whole load of video lessons that seem to talk you through how to play hammer-ons and pull-offs and slides and other techniques.

There's a special edition that comes with the game and an Epiphone Les Paul Junior for about £110, I think.

The set list doesn't look that bad. Might give it a go when it goes down in price.

I think it looks disappointing when you consider that the US version only had 25 tracks, so the other 25 songs on the UK disc could have been any number of the fantastic tunes they've got out as DLC to make up for the immense delay there's been (the Queen stuff (seriously, stick Bohemian Rhapsody on the dics and you'd sell it to every 30-something who's ever considered picking up a guitar), the Blink 182 pack and Don't Fear the Reaper especially).

Instead, we get a whole load of rather unnecessary padding. It really doesn't need more than one song by any one artist on there, but there's two Muse tracks, two Black Keys tracks, two Stone Temple Pilot tracks (one of which (Vasoline) is unbelievably boring to play) two Nirvana tracks and at least two Rolling Stones tunes.

But then for every Angela you've got something like Boys Don't Cry or Song 2, or Plug in Baby.

Mine's is on its way from Sainsburys. I am going to buy Pearl Jam Jeremy as soon as I can on DLC  Gonna practice the hell out of that song.
