The people protesting want it, and they want other people to look at it. This Election highlighted the issue more than ever.

A referendum doesn't mean anything when one side has all of the funding and publicity.

Yeah, it's ultimately a minority opinion. A perfectly valid opinion, but a minority one.

And those people are a very small minority. Why should they be allowed to dictate our entire political system changing just because their guy didn't win?

Let's put this into perspective, it was around 100 people. 5 were arrested according to the police. A further 200 protested in Wales.

Exactly this, there was a referendum it was voted down. give it few elections and bring it up sure, but I'm sure this gooseberry fool will hit after every damn election and it will become a "oh good the PR nuts again" thing.

The nation didn't want it, it was voted democratically, yeah you can argue one side had more money but thats life. The Tories have gooseberry fool loads more money than Labour so you could argue they only won because they spent more, its a pointless argument and it is on the loosing side for not fighting their corner right.

You can't just dismiss 'democracy' as being a vote in an outdated and unfair electoral system. It doesn't matter who got the majority. Should your vote be worth less or next to nothing just because not enough people with the same views live in the same town? Absolutely not. Parliament doesn't proportionately represent Britain, if it did, it wouldn't matter that the Tories were in charge.

Whatever your opinion on the protests and the riots (I'm not willing to wade in on that one) you must at least admit its absolutely CRAZY its not being reported on in nearly every major media outlet? Now that IS wrong.

Some of the drivel posted in here about lack of democracy is astonishing. Risible sentiments from malcontent little bitches.

As for the vandalism of the war memorial - they should drown themselves in the strawberry floating Thames out of shame.

Citizens of this country gave their lives so that we have a democracy. Which we do. One that we continually choose to use - it's fairness is questionable in terms of it's lack of PR but it does deliver a government that the majority have elected.

Loved all the saltiness in the last 48 hours or so from people who didn't get the results they wanted.

Beautiful.

They'll be working out how to spin it. They'll focus on the graffiti I'll bet.

You're happy that people gave their life for democracy, but you have contempt for those who want a fairer, more democratic system?

Some people here seem to think politics is only a once in a half a decade thing :?

It's everyday. It's pretty rare you'll get anything in life without asking for it first. Why is it wrong that these people protest after every election? Now is as good a time as ever to shout about this particular issue.

No, thats wrong. Thats trivialising it. If anyone is storming Number 10 in a riot, the public should know about that. The news is not meant to have an opinion, its meant to report the facts and the actual strawberry floating NEWS.

The existence of Geordie Shore, Made In Chelse and The X Factor shows that's simply not the case.

Yeah cut out the part of that post which gives that second part context. It seems you don't understand, or want to understand how politics in this country works.

It's being reported by Sky News, The Daily Telegraph, Mirror, and Daily Mail.

The BBC website for whatever reason aren't. I haven't watched the News on TV.

No matter the context, the statement was just plain wrong. Who got the majority absolutely does matter, whatever the voting system.

Sturgeon still moaning :fp:

Despite Scotland getting its own parliament, the Scotland Act of 1998 and 2012, numerous other devolved powers, and a referendum on staying in the UK, today she says that Scotland will "no longer be sidelined or ignored". Yes, that's what's been happening hasn't it. What a cretinous woman. :dread:

Always strawberry floating moaning about how hard done by they are. :fp:

Whether it was one of the protesters or someone trying to make them look bad, that graffiti was done by a single person (a single banana split) and we shouldn't trivialise the rest of the protest because of it.

Under PR, the Tories would be the biggest party and Cameron would most likely still be PM, but they wouldn't have carte blanche to pass 100% of the laws they want for the next five years. And that's because the majority of people didn't vote for them.
