That's fair enough, if you are civil servant or whatever obviously no-one would expect you to strongly take sides on here, but you should be careful as "they are all as bad as each other" stuff is still technically political speech (as well as bloody infuriating to read  ).

I was kind of hoping not explicitly backing anyone would be ok. I should really recuse myself from posting though.

For the record I don't think they're all the same I just have large misgivings about them all. I think that's abiguous enough for me to say.

Always worth keeping an eye on the betting sites to see where your best options are. Bet365 (amongst others, I assume) have markets for every constituency, so you can get a decent picture.

For example, the recently mentioned Watford has this outlook.

Conservative 2/7
Labour 4/1
Lib Dem 13/2
Independent 500/1

So I'd definitely agree with a Labour vote for tactical purposes.

If you fancy something marginally more light-hearted...

BBC News wrote:Election blind dates 2019 - What happens when two strong-minded individuals from opposite sides of the political divide sit down for dinner?

Image

To find out, the BBC's Victoria Derbyshire programme has organised a series of blind dates.

On each of the four occasions, neither person knew who they would be meeting.

So how did they get on?

Alexandra Phillips and Jordan Stephens

Watch what happened when Brexit Party MEP Alexandra Phillips ate with Jordan Stephens from the band Rizzle Kicks. He supported Remain and has previously voted Labour.

Bobby George and Courtney Act

How did the unlikely pairing of former darts player Bobby George and Australian drag queen Courtney Act fare?

He backs Boris Johnson, while she would vote Lib Dem - in the hope they could support Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn in becoming prime minister.

Alastair Campbell and Ken Clarke

Ken Clarke was a Tory MP until he was thrown out in September for rebelling against Boris Johnson's government.

Alastair Campbell is a former director of communications for Labour, who was expelled from the party in May for voting Lib Dem at the European elections.

Having been on opposite sides of the political divide for decades, have they now found common ground?

Owen Jones and Nimco Ali

Watch Guardian columnist Owen Jones's feisty date with anti-FGM campaigner Nimco Ali.

He is a vocal supporter of the Labour Party, while she is undecided on how she will vote in this election, but doesn't want a Corbyn majority and is campaigning for some Conservative candidates.

You can probably imagine how well the Owen Jones one goes...

I wouldn’t say that was a great guide, there are no independent candidates in Watford. ;)

The betting odds for my area are probably the worst in the country:

Conservatives - 1/150
Labour - 22/1

Good lord, that's horrendous. My condolences.

Am I right in still voting Labour, to get their vote share up? I usually vote Green but understand that would be a wasted vote.

That's what I'm doing. Tories will win, but anything to close that gap will help. If it's a closer seat then more people might come out to vote next time, instead of just assuming it's pointless.

It depends on what your constituency is. Vote to keep the Tories out in your area.

If you're in a very safe seat then I think you can vote for whoever you like. Personally speaking, I usually vote Green but I am voting Labour this election because I want to help counter the horrendous way they've been treated by the media.

Mines only 1/100 to the Cons, I'm actually quite surprised.
18/1 Lab 40/1 Lib Dems and 100/1 Greens.

Do you reckon they'd actually take a bet of a quid on a 1/100 bet. It'd be weird just winning a single penny.

Voting Time! 8% of Britons say they feel very enthusiastic about tomorrow’s General Election, with a further one in five (20%) saying they feel fairly enthusiastic

But a third (33%) say they do not feel very enthusiastic and a further third (34%) say they do not feel enthusiastic at all

Conservative voters (41%) are the most likely to report enthusiasm, while Labour (26%) and Liberal Democrats (26%) voters are less likely to be enthusiastic

I don't know if this is all areas, but I had a leaflet from the Conservatives saying if I or anyone I know needed help tomorrow, they'd PERSONALLY take you to the voting booth. And then to the nearest cash point.

Last bit isn't true.

I did get a leaflet from the Labour candidate on it giving a phone number to call if you wanted a lift to your polling station.

Polls don't mean anything, but I thought this was interesting.

In 2017, the last ICM poll showed Tory 46%, Labour 34%. The result (GB only) was Tory 44%, Labour 41%.

Now, the last ICM poll shows Tory 42%, Labour 36%.

Labour has been caught out using an actress in one of its election adverts...

Fake nurse! Welsh Labour withdraws video featuring actor

The Labour party in Wales has withdrawn a party election broadcast after it emerged that a nurse featured in the video who criticised the Conservative party was an actor.

In the film, which was broadcast on Tuesday on the BBC, ITV and S4C, the nurse tells viewers how a trade deal with US president Donald Trump is a threat to the NHS.

The actor, dressed in a blue NHS style uniform, told viewers: “We will increase the funding available to our health service. Labour is the party that created the NHS, and we will defend it against Tory attempts to sell it off for parts to Donald Trump.”

Labour said it was not aware that the nurse was fake until someone pointed out she was an actor, in contravention of the guidelines for such broadcasts.

“It has been brought to our attention that a private production company used an actor for our PPB [party political broadcast] without permission.

“We have spoken with the company involved, withdrawn the broadcast from future use and we will not be working with the production company in future,” said a spokesman.

Plaid Cymru branded the advert “fake” and attacked the Labour party’s record on the NHS in Wales.

The election broadcast first went out in September but it was not until it went on air on Tuesday that Labour became aware the woman was not a nurse in real life.

The rules on election broadcasts say the “use of reconstructions or actors in a broadcast must be made clear to the audience”.

Jonathan Edwards, who is standing for re-election as the Plaid candidate for in Carmarthen East and Dinefwr, said "I can see why Labour felt they had to use a fake nurse in their political advert as their woeful record on the NHS in Wales means they have everything to hide."

“Issues with the NHS Wales fall squarely at the door of the Labour party who have been running it for decades.

“Plaid Cymru has a plan to properly invest in the Welsh NHS to recruit 10,000 more doctors and 5,000 more nurses. By the looks of it, Labour couldn’t find one.”

Guidelines say actors or reconstructions must be made clear “if there is any possibility that the audience could be confused or misled by their appearance.”
