State Lawmakers in Arizona are weighing a measure to declare pornography a public health crisis.

Introduced by Republican Rep. Michelle Udall, the measure says pornography "perpetuates a sexually toxic environment that damages all areas of our society," AZ Central reported.

"Like the tobacco industry, the pornography industry has created a public health crisis," Udall reportedly told lawmakers. "Pornography is used pervasively, even by minors."

House Concurrent Resolution 2009 says children's easy access to online porn contributes to "low self-esteem, eating disorders and an increase in problematic sexual activity at ever-younger ages."

The proposal, which passed through the state's House Committee on Health & Human Services, has no legal implications but, if passed, could set a precedent for future pornography regulation policy.

If passed into law, the measure would make Arizona the 12th state to pass a resolution on pornography as a public health crisis.

Three quarters of Britons are unaware that new government restrictions will curtail access to online porn within weeks – but those who do know it’s coming think it will fail.

In April new government policy aimed at preventing children from accessing pornography will come into force and require adult websites to verify that visitors are at least 18 – and simply asking them won’t suffice.

Visitors will have to confirm their age using a driving licence, credit card, passport or mobile SMS. Britons will also be able to buy an age verification card in high street shops to do the same job. Only then will they be able to access the content within the website.

It’s a monumental change, and the first of its kind anywhere in the world. And despite being mere weeks from implementation, most Britons are unaware of it.

New YouGov research finds that three quarters of Britons (76%) don’t know that the so-called “porn block” is being introduced – only 24% said they knew it was on the way.

A third of Brits (34%) think the policy will be effective at preventing those under 18 from accessing porn online. Even among those who support the policy, fewer than half (46%) think it will work well.

Using 256-bit encryption to secure your data, re-routing it via remote servers to disguise your physical location from trackers. The servers won't log any of your activity, and can simply be toggled on and off in the browser's settings.

“By enabling Opera’s browser VPN service, users make it very difficult for third parties to steal pieces of their information and can avoid being tracked. Users no longer need to question if or how they can protect their personal information in these situations,” said Peter Wallman, senior vice president of Opera Browser for Android.
