Hi Rocsteady. Really? On what grounds? Very interesting development.

Edit: ought to qualify, I’m just unsure as to why Isis would have a specific beef with Russia. Seems an odd target compared to, say, the ‘free’ west. I think I’m somewhat relieved that they have claimed this though - difficult for Putin to pin it back on Ukraine thank goodness.

Basically, a regional ISIS group hates Putin, it goes back to Russia's involvement in Syria.

I think Russia intelligence have ruled out Ukraine too so I would expect ISIL are telling the truth and it isn't a false flag.

Unless that's what they want us to think.

I’d be genuinely surprised if the Russian government doesn’t try and pin this on Ukraine / The West somehow.

The bigger issue for Russia is the cracking towers at the refineries deep within their borders which are being attacked by drones, they can apparently take years to fix and they have no western parts to do so.

Although Ukraine how has drone production of its own, much of the advanced drone technology was initially gifted to them by the UK/US - so I can see that being more a cause of blaming the West than a terrorist attack.

Saw a claim the other day that Ukraine are now experimenting with using drones in complex attack formations like something out of a film.

Yeah, I'm not an expert on this stuff so I'm getting most of my info from reddit, but Ukraine seem to be very clever in not going after pipelines which are easy to fix. They seem to be targeting a very particular point of a refinery site.

Russia apparently don't have much air defence against drones that far inside their own country. It's mostly all in Ukraine or at the border.

God what a mess that site is.

Saw Medvedev initially blame them but think they'll primarily put it on ISIS now.

I genuinely can't comprehend how the Russian security response to this was so slow that the gunmen were able up escape the venue alive, get to their getaway car, and get well outside of Moscow before being intercepted and arrested. You just get so used to these kind of things ending with suicide by cop, it feels weird that this apparently didn't.

It's one of the things aspects which make me wonder whether this was a false flag attack, designed to boost support for a further wave of mobilisation of troops.

Ukraine claims to have destroyed 6 fighter jets at a Russian airbase in a large drone attack.

The rate that drones have escalated to the weapon of choice in this war is phenomenal. If this claim is true, the value of military equipment destroyed versus the value of the drones must be an insane return on the investment. The only question is, when Ukraine takes delivery of the F16s, will Russia be able to pull off the same?
