They made that last one because series four ended without a proper finale. It just... ended. No fanfare or especially climactic plot or anything.

The Yellowstone documentary which was on BBC4 earlier was really good. Some spectacular visuals.

BBC iPlayer catch-up window extended to 30 days

Shows’ availability no longer limited to seven days, as BBC says Sherlock’s return is most-viewed programme of 2014 to date

The BBC is to make TV and radio programming available on the BBC iPlayer for 30 days.

The extension from the current seven-day catch-up window has been introduced in time for the traditionally popular autumn TV schedule, with shows auch as Peaky Blinders and drama The Fall.

The move came as the BBC revealed that Sherlock’s return from the grave is the most popular show on the iPlayer so far this year.

“BBC iPlayer pioneered online viewing,” said the BBC director general, Tony Hall. “Extending the catch-up window to 30 days now makes the best value on-demand service even better. We have a fantastic autumn schedule and the public will now have more opportunities to watch the shows they love.”

There are more than 7m requests for BBC iPlayer programming a day.

The BBC said the Sherlock series three opener had received more than 3.6 million requests on the iPlayer.

The Top 10 is dominated by Top Gear, includinng the controversial Burma special when Jeremy Clarkson referred to an Asian man as a “slope”.

Comedy Outnumbered and BBC3 drama Murdered By My Boyfriend also made the list.

Top BBC iPlayer programmes of 2014 so far

1. Sherlock Series 3 (episode 1 – The Empty Hearse) 3,643,900 requests

2. Top Gear Series 21 (episode 1) 3,535,600

3. Top Gear Series 21 (Burma Special – part 1) 3,340,700

4. Top Gear Series 21 (episode 3) 3,191,000

I realise this topic seems to be dormant, but I'm not quite sure where else this should go.

Anyway, secret best UKTV show of the past few years...The Detectorists is back this week! Thursday 10PM on BBC4.

Cool, I've updated the thread title.

I don't tend to watch a lot of UKTV these days, so if someone else wants to take control of the thread that's fine by me.

Just started watching Not Safe For Work and they've already dropped the "Northampton is the furthest from the sea it's possible to get in the UK" line :slol:

Already 100% accurate with my experience of the place.

Has anyone been watching War and Peace?

I don't normally go in for these costume dramas but chuffing Nora this one is fantastic.

The Trip 3 (Rob Brydon and Steve Coogan) is moving from BBC2 to Sky Atlantic after the Beeb said they didn't want it, probably due to the awful ratings of the last one in Italy.

Just seen that Fresh Meat is finally back for it's last season starting on Monday!

Also discovered that the youngest member of the cast is 26. How on earth is Kingsley 32 :dread:

Currently watching Maigret. Looks really nice, but the accents are really killing the suspension of belief. They're all over the strawberry floating show. They're all London-centric accents mixed with inexplicable occasional French twang (such as from his wife) but everyone in the background is speaking French, and the newspapers are in French too (but subtitled). It's supposed to be set in Paris but feels more like the UK. It's just all very inconsistent really.

Been watching Line of Duty and Marcella and think i am bored of cop shows.

Marcella i have hated and Line of Duty I have not enjoyed for a long time. Hated the end of season 2 and this one I have found the cops so bleeding stupid, plus they work in a unit investigating bent coppers and they alway leave their pc's open when they walk away from their desks. On episode 5 of this 3rd season now and want it over :(

I completely disagree about Line of Duty. I thought the first 2 series were excellent, and the current series is better than ever.

Most wil agree with you. I am just struggling with it. Probably due to cop show overkill. Little annoyances are getting to me.

How shite and obvious i find DC Flemings undercover probing questioning this season, and last season too with Denton. How it feels like they convict no one really. Computers always left open. How evidence is not checked off by 2 people to avoid tampering....Dot suddenly being trusted after the first season.

Will finish it though. Just 6/10 this season for me so far. 7 last year. 8 first.
