I'm still rockin' my 26" 720p LCD Sony TV that I got in 2008 as my main screen :datass: . My Wii and Wii U run off that, whilst my PS4 is hooked up to a 24" 1080p LCD Sony.

I struggled to find a sub-32" 1080p set so settled on monitor.

I wonder when we're going to get sub-50" OLEDs, I'd love one for the bedroom.

Why do we need constant upgrades when what we have works fine. I suppose there will always be people who want the newest technology. I just have no idea why. I'm still waiting on the Xbox One to drop to an affordable price...£250 with a game is what I call reasonable.

Tempting, but I want a Fallout or a Halo...I'll keep my eyes pealed!

If and when Netflix goes 4K I'll upgrade my TV. No point for me until then.

Yeah, the choice of (decent) smaller screens has become much more limited in recent years. I have the Sony 24-EX320 that I picked up in 2011:

It looks really lush and the picture quality is great. My PS4 (HDMI), PS3 (HDMI), Xbox 360 (VGA) and Xbox (Component) are all connected up to it! I use it as a monitor and never for TV.

I think I'm a bit old-fashioned about screen sizes. If I was to replace my main 26" TV I'd want to get a 32" but everyone says it's a small screen :) .

Same here, I'm more bothered about picture quality than sound.

When I'm watching in the bedroom I have the lights off, and that's where LCD screens really suffer as black areas just look grey.

Excited about OLED now the prices are coming down, might be tempted to get one in the boxing day sales.

Speaking of new TVs, we popped into PC world earlier and had a look at the ones there. Has a stunning Samsung SUHD 4K tv at 65" so we've just had a look how much one of those is at 85"...

They have some 4K content, just not a great deal. Narcos, Breaking Bad and a few others.

I bought a 4K set a month or so ago because Best Buy were having a one day sale and I convinced myself that the saving justified the purchase.

Packaging has been unveiled, the cases are basically black Blu-ray cases which compliment the existing media.

That 4k packaging looks out of date already. Imagine how bad it will look in ten years, hilarious.

For most purposes I still find DVD to be perfectly acceptable.

Are you watching on a 4K TV though? For TV viewing it is all a strawberry floating con, once you upgrade your TV you need to upgrade your source so you don't have a noticeable picture degradation. Not once when I was watching a DVD on a SDTV did I think "I wish everything looked more detailed". But as soon as I had an HDTV and connected up my DVD player I felt forced into a source upgrade just so I could have what I used to have. :x

Yes?

I think most publishers will just have the plain cover art as they currently do with Blu-ray and DVD.

I think Sony just want to splash features on their covers to further promote the format.

Can we not have these multi-format packs that just bump the cost up? Let me just buy 4K without the regular Blu-ray as well.

Nah, it'll be a long time before I upgrade to 4k, I reckon. Took me forever to go HD, and even now I only just got a BD player.

Mad Max: Fury Road, San Andreas, The Lego Movie, and Pan will be the first 4 4K Blu Rays Warner Brothers have announced, with a further 31 coming from them before the year is out.

All will feature High Dynamic Range (HDR).

So will we have to upgrade our bluray players then? I'm dying for some 4K content that doesn't skip or break up on my TV. Not sure if the videos are shite or my USB isn't fast enough to play them through the TV.
