This 4K version is, according to Fox, "an all-new 4K Ultra HD remaster" while the included Blu-ray is the same as before.

Hopefully this will be a much better transfer than the Blu-ray version.

I'm scared it watch series 1. I bet it hasn't aged well.

Sean Bean’s head will have aged badly.

He hasn't aged for about 25 years. It will look glorious in UHD.

The bloke from The Full Monty and the Morrison's advert hamming it up might not be so glorious.

I have a feeling it'll be the same with everyone looking like something you'd see at Madame Toussaudes.

Sony to launch ‘budget’ 4K HDR Blu-ray player in August

The new Sony UBP-X500 has been confirmed for release in Europe in mid-August for a suggested retail launch price of approximately €240/£200.

The player supports HDR 10 and Dolby Atmos passthrough, but forgoes Dolby Vision.

In addition to UHD Blu-ray discs, X500 will also spin your HD Blu-ray, DVD, SACD, CDs, and playback of media stored on a USB stick in multiple audio and video formats. In addition, it offers an “ultra-fast start up” and auto standby modes, and comes bundled with a compact remote control.

Should be looking at £135-145 on promotion very quickly.

For around £30 more you could get a 1TB Xbox One S (which will support DV), but for those who still really want a separate player you can’t really complain at that price.

The price of players is irrelevant if the 4k disks are still massively overpriced.

I can see me pressing 'go' on something like this before the end of the year, if only to reduce the strain on my launch PS4 which is starting to creak a little.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/SAMSUNG-UBD-M7 ... ray+player

Down to £128 now, which seems reasonable. I reckon Black Friday could see it reach prices as low as £128. :shifty:

I've got that one. It appears to have developed an issue where it's stopped outputting hdr despite doing so when I first got it.

Ah, gooseberry fool. That aside, are you pleased with it? (Though that would piss me off, right enough.)

I’ve got the Panasonic Umd 7.
Infinity wars is probably going to be my next purchase.

I've barely used it tbh (it came free with the tv). The picture is stunning, but I don't know how much of that is just the tv being great. It's nicely integrated with the tv being of the same brand, so it all works through the same menu system as the t.v. with the same remote.

You’ve got a Samsung TV?

Ugh. Might as well put it in the corner.

Fair enough, cheers. Maybe I'll not bother. I'm in the process of digitising all my DVDs so I can create more space in the house, so maybe the last thing I need to be doing is finding reasons to buy more optical media.
