As we're doing overrated, how about things which are underrated? Awesome movies and music which never got the recognition they deserved, and much more besides.

I'll begin with Dredd, an amazing film which very few saw at the time, and is now largely forgotten outside of the main fanbase.

Dredd was sabotaged and sent out to die by the studio due to being forcibly 3D only whilst at the cinema. That decision alone utterly killed any chances it had of doing well and getting a sequel.

I loved Dredd, it's one of my favourite films of the last decade.

I wish more people were aware of Dark City. Barely anyone I know seems to have heard of it but it rates as one of my favourite sci-fi films of all time

Couple of games I think were underrated

Enslaved Odyssey to the West

Ninja Theory’s best game imo, fun to play and a great world with great characters.

Sleeping Dogs

Sleeping Dogs actually seems to be picking up a bit more recognition in the past couple of years but deserved more when it came out.

Music wise, I really like a band called A Dark Halo, they are not particularly genre breaking or anything but they have a great sound. I never hear anything of them over here but I still think they release music every so often.

I agree with both of these. I loved the new take on 'Journey to the West' (I'm considering possibly bringing it into my dissertation in a couple of years)

I'm not sure how much of a following it has these days but I always thought Farscape was a show that deserved more attention. I'm just glad it actually got a made for TV movie to wrap up the storylines.

I remember Sleeping Dogs being quite well received, but that might just be because I was here.

I'm going to say Bicentennial Man. It's not looked upon particularly fondly, but imo it's a great film with real heart. And Robin Williams is excellent as always.

I've seen it and didn't particularly rate it at the time. Maybe a rewatch is in order.

I love Dredd and really enjoyed both Enslaved and Sleeping Dogs! I've also seen Dark City - but the only thing I remember is the reveal of it being in space. I've only seen Bicentennial Man once a long time ago when I was young but I remember liking it at the time, the ending has stuck with me.

It had some surface level similarities to The Matrix which was released a year later (and apparently used some of the same sets). The humans exist in a world they think is real but is actually a simulated world/city. The main character is awakened to their reality and gains the ability to alter the simulation at will. I enjoyed both films but personally preferred Dark City.

The TV show Fringe.

It was fantastic but hardly anyone ever watched it which is a real shame  .

Master and Commander.

One of my top 10 films, maybe even top 5, and I don't like Russell Crowe.

I think the lack of hype really plays a part.
