I really don't like Donnie Darko it's a very overrated film IMO.

Exactly, even as a student in College I never got into that 'Student Union' lark. Ragweek and all that nonsense. :dread:

The remake of Dawn of the Dead is better than the original.

The Big Lebowski is dull.

The problem with a film like withnail & I, is that if you find it organically and then enjoy it, you'll really enjoy it. But if you have people constantly banging on about how hilarious it is and quoting it to death before you've even seen it, then watching it you're just going to find it gooseberry fool. If someone had said it's HILAAAAAARIOUS before I'd watched it, I wouldn't have made it far in to the film.

Really?

Do you go to the cinema lots? Because that's probably more films a year than times I go to the cinema.

Probably about ten times a year personally. But look at the genre compared to, say, pure comedy movies, or films centred around conflicts, or romance movies. Do you reckon there are more superhero films in the last decade than any of them?

I kinda put it in with The Goonies, and The Breakfast Club, in that category of movies you have to see at the right time of life in the right frame of mind and if you do it becomes one of your classic faves.

But if you don’t then you absolutely won’t get why anyone loves it. You might think it’s fine, but not why it’s anyone’s favourite movie.

The following films are overrated horseshit...

No Country For Old Men - Boring, with stupid characters, and an even more stupid ending.

Heat - 1 good action scene does not make a good three hour movie.

Hunger (directed by Steve McQueen) - Just nasty in every way, boring as hell too.

The Shining - Using screechy sound effects does not make a generally confusing movie scary.

Top Gun - there wasn't actually a story to be found anywhere.

Scott Pilgrim Vs The World - loved by all on ONM at the time, but it was complete and utter hipster bollocks.

Hana Bi - Another which gained rave reviews, as i sat bored stiff watching Beat Takeshi stare into space a lot.

Grease - i just didn't get it.

Black Panther - pretty effects, but ultimately very boring.

The Goonies - there are way better similar films out there.

Pacific Rim - how can a film about robots fighting monsters be so damn boring?

Plus you don't have to go to the cinema for every single one.

Michael Cera was a terrible Scott Pilgrim, and ruined the entire film for me.

Fair enough if you think they’re all gooseberry fool, though. I get that completely.

!!??

That's definitely oversaturation. Like could it be more saturated.

I've come to the recent realisation that star wars is absolutely rubbish and I don't know why I enjoyed it in the first place. 2 OK films out of 9 is not a great hit rate.

I won’t have a bad word said against Scott Pilgrim :capnscotty: superb film in my opinion!

My unpopular opinion is on Blade Runner, it’s just not that good. Best things about it are the setting and the closing speech from Roy (didn’t even know his name was Roy till now ), other than that it just didn’t interest me in the slightest and I watched the (apparently) best version.

I don't think they are comparable "genres", like "comic book superhero adaptation" is much more specific than "comedy". Plenty of the superhero movies could be classed as comedies. It's also the fact that the MCU all tie together, so there has been an impetus to watch all of them. That's what makes it tiring for me and why I'm glad Endgame has given me a point to "check out".

I find nearly all black and white films totally unwatchable.

Lost in Translation isn't actually that good a film.

Black Panther is vastly overrated and doesn't deserve the praise it received.

Interstellar was a load of pseudoscience drivel.
