PostUpgrading my PC

Considering whether to upgrade my graphics card later this year or not. I want to be playing the latest games (Far Cry 4, Batman Arkham Knight, Assassin's Creed Unity etc) at decent FPS and looking good. The other option would be buying a PS4, which I'd promised myself not to do.

My current spec is...

Intel i5-2500k 3.30Ghz
Asus P8Z68-V/Gen3 Motherboard
XFX HD 6870 900Mhz 1Gb Graphics card
Corsair 8Gb DDR3 1600Mhz Red Vengeance

Which graphics card would you recommend? Does the rest of my set up still seem okay?

Hmm.. not sure. I'd want to get as much "bang for my buck" as possible. Maybe £300?

GTX 770/80 or R9 290

If you arent in a hurry then it might be worth waiting to see if 780's or 290X's drop in price. I doubt it, like, but no harm if you arent in a rush. Worth noting that shadowplay and all that gooseberry fool is nvidia only if you have any interest in it.

Thanks.

And the CPU/Motherboard aren't going to be bottlenecks? They're still decent enough?

Not really. They will be bottlenecks because those graphics cards are beasts, but not so much I think you'll notice it a great deal.

Id probably double up on at least the RAM if I were you.

If I'm going for a 770, do I just buy the cheapest I can find or are some makes/models worth paying more for? 2gb or 4gb? :?

Also, will my CoolerMaster 600w Silent Pro Modular PSU handle it?

I've seen a SAPPHIRE Radeon R9 280X Dual-X OC 3GB GDDR5 for £170.

Seems better than a GTX770, but not as good as a GTX780. But looks like a bargain price. :?

What do you think?

...actually looking at another website, it looks like the 280x is slightly weaker than a 770. But its a £65 saving, so I'm still torn what to do.
