It is not happening.

They have nothing. This is just Trump shouting at people desperately, it won't go anywhere. People are bringing up Bush v Gore and yeh that was a result decided by the SC but the situation was a shitshow. At least there was a reason they were in court to sort it out. There is nothing here and Republicans are starting to distance themselves from Trump.

This is a pretty clear message from George Bush:

"The American people can have confidence that this election was fundamentally fair, its integrity will be upheld, and its outcome is clear,"

Yeah there's no chance of this being overturned via legal routes or recounts, so the one remaining fear is that Trump calls for violence from his supporters. Hopefully it he was to do that then it would have happened by now.

How do these Executive Orders work? Why can the President simply sign something into agreement, without it going through the House and Senate? That seems a little... autocratic!

It comes under Article 2, which John Oliver did a good piece on recently. Trump's 'Muslim Ban' is a recent example - essentially an executive order is discretionary power - a sitting President can sign something into law - but that law can still be challenged at federal or SCOTUS level.

A law can also be revoked by a future President - which is exactly what Biden will do.

One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

What is that federal level if not the House and/or the Senate?

I remember listening to a Dan Carlin Common Sense podcast a while ago that discussed executive orders. My very vague understanding was that the ability to do them had always been there but it was only with recent presidents that they'd been used extensively (maybe Obama trying to get stuff done whilst having the house against him??).

That data suggests the complete opposite to what I'd said then. I thought Obama had used them fairly extensively but that's not the case whereas Trump has used a fair few even with the backing of both houses.

Is that because radical measures were required to dig out of the Great Depression + for the War?

Nah, it's because polio makes people desperate to sign documents.

Eh, kind of, but also FDR was properly authoritarian at the best of times.

So, dragging out the legal battle for as long as possible is basically a method for Trump's campaign to pay off their election debt.

Donations to Trump's election legal fund would also go towards paying off his campaign's debt

Donations made to President Donald Trump's "official election defense fund" would also be used to pay off the campaign's debt, according to the fine print on the donation pages.

Insider and Decision Desk HQ called the race for President-elect Joe Biden Friday morning, after projecting a Pennsylvania win for Biden, amidst a flurry of lawsuits that the Trump campaign and Republican officials brought this week in key battleground states. Trump and his allies have called on his supporters to donate to the president's legal fund to challenge the results of the election.

A donation page that the Trump website links to encourages a donation to the "Official Election Defense Fund." The page reads: "President Trump needs YOU to step up to make sure we have the resources to protect the integrity of the Election!"

However, in the fine print lower on the page, it says 60% will go towards "the retirement of general election debt," and the remaining 40% will go towards the Republican National Committee's operating account. It is customary for national party committees, like the RNC, to be involved in election-related legal battles, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Keep the illusion of battle going with the 40% and pay off the debt at 60%.

It's hilarious that Trumpists are going down the rabbit hole of this being some genius sting operation, or that Trump is keeping his evidence with the lawyers so he can win in court.

If Trump had any evidence at all, we would have seen it by now. The guy cannot keep his mouth shut, and if you did have evidence of fraud on such a large scale, you'd get it out in front of the public immediately!

Fresh from its shot at fame after Trump’s team held a press conference in its car park, Four Seasons Total Landscaping in Philadelphia has released its own merchandise.

On Saturday, President Trump’s legal team put together a hastily arranged press conference there to discuss legal proceedings regarding the election results.

The president initially said on Twitter that the conference would be at the Four Seasons Hotel, before announcing that it would be held at the garden business on the outskirts of town, prompting speculation that it had been booked by mistake.

Pictures of Mr Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani briefing journalists, next to an adult bookstore and a crematorium, went viral among Democrats, who found the situation highly amusing.

The gardening business has since come out to say it has no political allegiances, but, responding to popular demand, it has hastily released its own range of T-shirts and hoodies. It is also selling a souvenir sticker with the slogan "Lawn and order", punning on a Trumpian phrase.

McCain's concession speech came up on twitter. You fight, but when you lose you nobly accept it. You be magnanimous, soothe your supporters and unite the nation you care about.

That's the highlight of Trumps presidency.
